25% off everything this week

Our shop is overflowing with some great donations. This means it is time to share the goodness with a sale—25% off everything! The sale begins when you receive this newsletter.

Additionally, we will be clearing out our current

ONLINE SHOP ITEMS at 50% off.

Time to get ready for your Spring and Summer projects. Maybe bring Mom in for the sale or get a gift certificate so she can enjoy the sale.

Because we are still shopping by appointment Tuesday-Thursday 11-5 and Saturday 10-4, the sale will extend through Saturday May 15th.

Please call 328-2642 to get on the schedule. We do allow drop-in shopping if we are not fully booked but a quick call will ensure you a shopping time.

Experience Fiber Art

Last Saturday, we welcomed Julie of Experience Fiber Art back for a Mother’s Day Postcard making event on the sidewalk.

We have missed working with this organization during the last year and we look forward to more collaboration. Keep your eye on our web page and social media for more SewGreen on the Sidewalk events as we move into the warmer months!

If you are part of an organization with a class you would enjoy offering outdoors, please contact us at info@sewgreenrochester and we will work out the details!

May 8th – Mother’s Day Aprons with Josefina

Learn to make a good basic Chef’s Apron. This class includes a fabric kit for your first apron and a pattern to make more aprons. You can pick up your kit during shop hours up until 1 pm on Saturday.

May 15th – Jewel Box Quilt Block with Linda

Each month Linda teaches a new block which will add to your machine quilting skills. The kit is included with class registration and is available at the shop.

May 22nd – Basic Tote Bag

These are so great to make for yourself, for gifts or for your local food program. Kits to make 2 bags are included with the class and are available to pick up at the shop. (2 bags, YES! Why not take this class together with a friend or family member sharing your screen at no extra cost?)

May 29th – No class

We take a holiday from class, but the shop will be open on Saturday 10-4.

Featured this month: Quilts for Samaritan’s Purse

Telesta brought in a couple of examples of her quilts (containing some SewGreen fabrics!) which her church group is making for Samaritan’s Purse. You can find more information at samaritanspurse.org.

Treasure from My Studio

I took a day to sort out various totes in my studio this week and came across this piece handsewn by my Maine forebears probably in the 19th century. It has been tucked away in a cedar chest which I am passing on to my children. It is just an unfinished top but the handwork is astonishing and the fabrics are silk of various weaves. I am betting so many of you have these kinds of pieces tucked away. Please share them with us!
