We salute all summiteers and wish to make some clarifications – in view of the fact that we are still receiving too many questions regarding the IPC's withdrawal as a co-host from Indoor Skydiving 2020.
The wording used by Mrs. Gillian Rayner, the President of the FAI Parachuting Commission (IPC), in announcing the withdrawal of the organization she presides as a co-host of Indoor Skydiving 2020 | First Global Summit (ISGS) could easily create a perception that I
- Lost my enthusiasm to organize and deliver ISGS,
- Did not do much other than establishing contact with tunnel manufacturers and representatives of other governing bodies in international sports,
- Did something – either by act or omission – that would impede IPC from attaining its goals through ISGS.
None of the above is the case. I am as committed to make ISGS a success as ever. Long before the IPC Bureau discussed its decision to withdraw on 22 October, the summit topics were defined and nearly all panelists confirmed. Anyone, including the members of the IPC Bureau, had access to information on the status of the preparations through the content on two ISGS websites. The tunnel manufacturers and the federation representatives were and are in a minority.
It is unfortunate that the IPC President chose to release her statement unilaterally and in disrespect of an existing verbal agreement between the World Air Sports Federation, Support Air International and her to work collaboratively on a consensus text.
I have made my last statement on 7 November 2019. There is nothing to be added other than the following.
We, the remaining organizers, have decided to no longer levy any fees from the participant through the comprehensive registration packages which were offered through 24 October. Participation in ISGS is free of charge. But while the registration is gratis, it still remains mandatory. All participants need to obtain an RSVP voucher (see sample below) through our online registration system. You receive this message to remind you of that.
Those of you who have made a credit card payment as part of the registration process – that was only possible from 22 September to 24 October – are kindly asked to wait for a personal email explaining how they will be reimbursed.
Please consult our most recent edition of the ISGS brochure for the most up-to-date information.
With my best personal regards,
