Vistamar Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2020, $17.95

"One of the best-kept secrets about Chilean cabernet is the result that this variety offers in the foothills of the Andes, at the level of the Cachapoal Valley - fine, sharp cabernets like this one. Despite the season's warmth, this shows its herbal side and the red fruit tones that are mixed with black fruits and sweeter touches. A succulent and friendly mountain wine."

Score - 92. (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2023)

"Notes of blackberries, dark plums, olives, stones and a hint of black pepper. Medium to full body with fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Rich, but svelte, with a silky texture."

Score - 91. (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com)

Robert Oatley Signature Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, $21.95

"This is a full-flavoured yet finely structured Cabernet of great appeal: black berries, dried leaves and fine gravelly tannin, reflect an outstanding year!"

Score - TOP VALUE - 91. (Huon Hooke, 2023)

"Vivid regional and varietal characters of cherry, blackberry, seaweed, beet, eucalyptus and black olive brine open the nose of this savory Cabernet. The palate is powerful while still being linear, focused and fresh. Savory tannins frame juicy, brambly red fruit and spice, and a gently charred oak note can be felt, too. Drinking well now, especially at slightly below room temperature, but also could cellar until around 2030, at least."

Château La Pirouette Cru Bourgeois 2018, $22.95

"The 2018 La Pirouette, a Cru Bourgeois matured in 40% new oak, has a well-defined bouquet of blackberry, tobacco and black pepper aromas that display good intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained, supple tannin. I appreciate the balance and focus of this wine, which is harmonious and silky-smooth toward the finish. This will be bottled early next year. Try to grab some. Drinking window: 2022-2029."
