Congratulations

  • Congratulations to Magdelena and Dmitri on the birth of their daughter Ella on 1st May. Helena will be a super big sister!

 

  • Congratulations to Kayla O’Halloran and Vivienne Draper who have both been awarded scholarships to Bandon Grammar School. Kayla was awarded the scholarship for a day pupil and Vivienne was awarded the scholarship for a boarder. Well done girls!

 

  • Congratulations to Orla, Vivienne and Kayla who were confirmed in St. Peter’s Church in Bandon on Sunday 28th April.

 

  • Best wishes to Leah Hurley who will make her communion on Saturday in Enniskeane.

Welcome

We were delighted to welcome Mark Lomakin and his Mum Maria to our school community on Thursday. Mark has joined senior infants and we hope that they will be very happy in Ballineen.  Next Monday we look forward to welcoming Anastasiia Koretska and her Mum Maryna to our school community. Anastasiia will be joining junior infants.

Oven

The oven for the school lunches has finally arrived. The Lunch Bag are sending an electrician to fit it and the launch day will take place on Tuesday 14th May. Each family will receive their individual log in details for the app to place their orders and the system will be explained to the pupils and staff. The free hot lunches will arrive everyday from Monday 20th May. Thank you for your patience!

The Bike Wizard

Thank you to Cork Sports Partnership who subsidised the cycling workshop yesterday. The children really enjoyed themselves and their confidence and cycling skills made great progress. It is National Bike Week next week. Unfortunately the weather forecast is wet next week but we hope to arrange a cycle to school day in June.

Visit From Bishop Colton

Bishop Paul Colton visited the school on Tuesday. He is marking 25 years as bishop by visiting every school in the diocese. Thank you to all the staff who baked delicious refreshments and to Mrs. Quin who created an unique gift by paper folding. The pupils made a video where each children spoke and they sang enthusiastically. It was a very enjoyable visit.

History Talk

On Thursday 16th May, Raymond Good will visit the school to show the pupils his memorabilia from the West Cork Railway. He was an employee of the West Cork Railway until it closed in 1961 and he has many stories to share with the pupils.

School Tour

The senior classroom are going on a school tour on Tuesday 21st May. They will visit the Independence Museum in Kilmurry in the morning for a guided tour. During the afternoon, they are going to Kilmurry Woods. It will be biodiversity week and they will explore some activities which heighten their awareness of trees, flora and fauna. The cost of the bus and admission to the museum is €18 per pupil. Please transfer the money to the school online.

Pot Luck Supper

The End of Year Assembly and Pot Luck Supper has been rescheduled to 6:30p.m. on Monday 24th June. 

Additional Activities Payment
