From the director's desk

Greetings families and friends,

Welcome to our 7th year of programming! 2024 is here with a whole new line up of updates to share with all of you. This first quarter has witness a brand new initiative to bring our guitar education program to children's home, the growth of our partnership with RAP, our new little guitarists class at Bodger Park, and the collaboration with educators and guests artists in the field of music. Our first newsletter of the year is full of highlights! Thank you for your support and for believing that we can help children explore life with music.

Be well and be safe

What's Happening?

New Little Guitarists Class at Bodger Park!

Our partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recs has brought the great opportunity to expand our program at our local park. Early this year, we opened a new class geared toward children in the elementary level. We are delighted to meet and welcome new faces into our program. Let's give a warm welcome to Emma, Kaylin, Juan Andres, Mariana and Massi!

We still have open spots available for our 6 pm class on Mondays! The class is for 1st to 5th grade students. If you know someone interested in joining our program, please help us spread the word and contact us at :

RAP Partnership Update

We had a wonderful session last year with our students from the Lawndale School Elementary District as part of our partnership with RAP, which concluded with beautiful performances at our 2023 Winter Concert. This year is off to great start with students at all four school sites coming back to learn even more music and acquiring more musicianship skills. We love seeing how some students are beginning to show more interest in the instrument and their progress is evidence of their participation and engagement in the classroom.

Welcome to the Team:

Jon Reyes, online instructor

This year, we are pleased to welcome our new online guitar instructor, Mr. Jon Reyes, who is joining our team to help students with their home practice. This initiative will extend our services to student's home and help them grow in their music education development.

Mr. Reyes holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Cal State Fullerton, with a concentration on classical guitar performance. He has great experience and communication skills working with school-age children and we are very happy to have him join our team.

Professional Development & Networking

During this first quarter of the year, we visited some important venues as part of our networking and professional development where we had the opportunity to connect with people in the music industry, particularly in the field of music education and performance. During our visit to the 2024 NAMM show, we participated in educational workshops to learn more about effective practices in the classroom setting as well as how to keep students engaged with music tactics. In March, we visited the South Bay Guitar Society in San Jose, CA. This organization promotes classical and related guitar music to people of all cultures, ages, abilities and economic means and it fulfills its purpose by offering culturally diverse concerts, guitar music education and performance opportunities for professional and amateur musicians. We met some wonderful people and discussed possible collaborations. One of our goals in the foreseeable future is to provide our students a field trip to visit and perform in this venue for members of this society.

Guest Artist Visit: Alex Park

On March 5th, 2024 we welcomed our first guest artist of the year, Mr. Alex Park. We are always thrilled to host these special guitar workshops because students are able to engage and learn from professional musicians, especially in the classical guitar field. Mr. Park gave a marvelous performance to our students and inspired everyone with his splendid talent. He also provided a great lecture/lesson on how to begin playing tremolo, a technique that requires lots of practice and hand coordination.

Mr. Alex Park in an acclaimed international concert guitarist, performing throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. He received his bachelor's degree from Pepperdine University, his Masters of Music from CSU Fullerton, and is currently finishing his Doctoral Degree from the USC School of Music.
