Trinity Gardens School Class 5 on camp, Kangaroo Island |

The ASEA committee will be seeking new members in 2024. Our children are graduating through the years, and most of the committee will be moving on from primary school soon. In order to maintain the valuable services that ASEA provides for our community, we need to build a committee that represents a range of childrens' ages and, ideally, have all three stream schools represented as well. Please keep an eye out for an invitation to join our committee in the new year and come along to find out how you can make a contribution to Steiner stream education in South Australia. With best wishes for a peaceful and connected summer with your loved ones. Warltati blessings from Abbi and Shani |

In the mid 2000s ASEA was the driving force that brought streamed Steiner education to South Australian public schools, with the first Stream starting in 2005 at Trinity Gardens School. Our primary focus was, and still is, to ensure affordable and authentic Steiner education within Steiner Stream schools in the greater Adelaide area. These streams run within public schools, and so don’t attract the same fees as private schools, but there are still costs which come with authentic Steiner education experiences. These might be for music lessons, instrument hire, camps or excursions, or even special materials. It’s been almost 20yrs since the first Steiner Stream school in South Australia opened and we still have a commitment to helping maintain this affordability. One of the ways we do this is by providing bursaries to families in need. These are funded by ASEA membership fees. When you become a member of ASEA Steiner Stream children benefit. Lead by example and join ASEA today. Play a part in maintaining a child’s education, and their connection to their class and school community. Visit our website to learn more about ASEA’s initiatives. ASEA members are parents, grandparents, teachers, school leadership, and our greater community. Thank you for your commitment to affordable and authentic Steiner Education in South Australia. |

Sheidow Park Steiner Stream |
|
|
Sheidow Park celebrated the summer season with a whole school Arts Showcase on Friday of week 7. As a whole school event this featured an item from every class - both Mainstream and Steiner. Our Steiner classes bought beauty to the event with singing (including 3 part harmonies), strings songs, recorder and excerpts from Class 1's 'Briar Rose' and Class 4's 'Thor's Hammer." The stage was decorated with summer foliage, a Steiner painted backdrop and beautiful cloths. This was a wonderful event for our school and a chance for our Steiner stream to really showcase the beauty that we bring to education. We now look forward to breathing out over the next two weeks, our Beach Day in week 9 and Rose Ceremony on the last day of term. |

CLASS FIVE CAMP TO KANGAROO ISLAND Monday started when we jumped on the bus and went down to Cape Jervis and met with Uncle Cedric, who talked to us about the Country there. The ferry took us to Kangaroo Island. After a play and a snack at a nearby park we jumped back on the bus which took us to the Western KI Caravan Park. After settling down and pitching our tents, we had pasta for dinner. Tuesday we woke up and the early risers did some drawing. After breakfast and cleaning our tents we hopped on the bus and went to Seal Bay. A nice lady called Mia took us on a tour of Seal Bay. A little later we were at Hanson Bay, where we paddled and built a sand tower. |

Wednesday morning we hopped on the bus and went to Remarkable Rocks where we found lots of caves and played on the rocks. Then we went to Admiral's Arch and I saw a mummy seal and two baby seals. We went down to the Arch and were amazed. We had lunch at some park benches in the Flinders Chase National Park before going on the Waterholes Platypus walk. Some of us were hot but it was amazing to see all the trees growing back after the bushfire. On Thursday we were lucky to spend the day with Caroline, an environmental conservation worker, who took us on walks through properties where she helps manage pest and weed species. We did a bird survey and played in a creek. That afternoon we went to the beach. Friday morning we woke up early and packed up our camp. We made it to the ferry just in time and had a smooth ride back to the mainland. We stopped for lunch at Yankalilla where we had a play and got back to school at home time. It was an amazing camp that I will never forget! By a Class Five student |

On Friday in week three, Trinity Gardens Class 5 welcomed students from the four other Steiner schools to participate in the Greek Olympics. Altogether around 90 students competed in wrestling, sprints, javelin, discus, long jump, relays and chariot racing. The students from each school were blended into four teams, Athens - blue, Sparta - red, Corinth - green and Thebes - yellow. Each team worked together to perform a march with their team chant for the opening ceremony before moving around in their teams to participate in the tabloid events. After lunch, the finals were held in wrestling, sprints and the relay, culminating in the chariot race where teams of students pulled their chariot and rider around the track to complete 10 laps. Once the presentations of medals were awarded for each event, the closing ceremony rounded out the day, followed by an amazing celebratory feast! Abbi Fenton - TGS Class Five teacher |
