Ladies, Congratulations to Christy and Joyce for a successful School Supply Drive this year! I've heard that donors were very generous this year. I believe that, because yesterday's 3rd Annual Stuff the Trailer event was great! We picked up the remaining bins, accepted donations around the island, and held a one-day 50/50 at many of the locations. The 50/50 alone raised $590. We drew the winning ticket at Miceli's and called the winner, leaving a message that they had won $295. Well, Bill returned our call and donated it all back! Like every other day in July this year, it was hot and humid and Anna, Kathleen, Deb, Joel, and I were exhausted by the end of the afternoon. Please remember to thank our Co-Sponsors this year, Todd and Bob at Pine Island Auto, and Ashley with Tipsy Flamingo, who all rode along with us for the day. Besides the bins of school supplies, the 50/50 and donations raised over $1,700 yesterday! That will go a long way to make up for any shortfall of donated items and help the students and teacher of PIE for possibly the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year. See the section in the Herald for more information about the final sorting tomorrow and Tuesday. Saturday, August 5th is our quarterly Blood Drive from 10am until 3pm. We were invited to be part of the F.I.S.H and Kiwanis Back to School event at the Methodist Church. F.I.S.H. will be delivering kids' clothing from their Basket Brigade from 10am until Noon, and the Kiwanis is having it's Back to School Pool Party at the Pine Island Pool beginning at 11am. Stay hydrated, cool, and play indoor games. Remember that the dog days of summer; better known as August, are just around the corner. Stay in touch, Madam DJ |

Matlacha Hookers' Storage Unit Request |
In preparation for our Fall fundraisers, we need the chairs/co-chairs of the various events to visit the storage unit to get things further organized, The goal is for all items to be moved in to the new clear bins with labeling. We'd also like to get the heavy bins placed on the lower shelves, and dividing the heaviest ones in to multiple bins. The lighter bins would then be placed on higher shelves, for the safety of those removing them from above while on a ladder. Questions? Please contact Linda Bohacek 715-579-5009. |
