Schools, Students, and Education, 88th TX Legislative Session

Summary: "School Choice" is once again a battle ground in the 88th Texas Legislature, (and even in The Community News). There is plenty of puerile finger pointing and name calling, (aka politics) but you have to read widely and deeply to get to the facts.

Canvas, New WPNorth Townhomes for Lease - Update

Summary: Canvas, the new Willow Park North Townhomes, are complete enough to be in full lease mode. With the street names and addresses and new signs at the corner of Kings Gate Road and I20 Service Road, Canvas is ready to bring new neighbors to Willow Park.

"New" Fire Marshal Dept. in Willow Park

Summary: When ESD1 assumed the fire fighting responsibilities, the fire fighters, and the fire fighting equipment of Willow Park, they did not take the responsibilities of the Willow Park Fire Marshal. During the 11 April 2023 Council Meeting, the city established a "new" Willow Park Fire Marshal Department.

Garbage! New trash and recycling plan (and fees) for Willow Park

Summary: During the 11 April 2023 Council Meeting, Willow Park joined with five (5) neighboring cities -- Aledo, Hudson Oaks and the three Annettas -- to leverage their combined buying power in a Joint Solid Waste Agreement with Republic Waste Services of Texas, Ltd.

Willow Park Police Academy

Summary: The Willow Park Police Academy starts 24 April 2023, "Step into the role of a Willow Park police officer by learning the different aspects of law enforcement to include community policing, criminal investigations, patrol duties, use of force, narcotics, and less lethal weapons."

Wastewater Treatment Plant

Summary: Willow Park has its first look at the new Wastewater Treatment Plant. Willow Park is required by law to maintain wasterwater services based on its wastewater service population and service connections. "Willow Park's wastewater system services a population of 1,941 with 482 connections.
