Happy December y'all.
Can't believe the year is coming to an end.
I hope November treated you well. I’m thankful for the colder days and bundled walks to the library.
I hope you were able to enjoy the holidays–either taking time for yourself, or spending it with family and friends.
I went on a walk through Ferry Beach State Park through the Black Tupelo Swamp.
And made a Chocolate Cream Pie in honor of my mom.
The holidays are hard without her. And this will be my second one since she died.
Despite the holiday blues, there still are a lot of lovely things happening in the last month of 2022.
And come to think of it: a lot to celebrate.
I think this will be my ninth and last newsletter of 2022.
That is three more than what I did last year, yay yay!
My month in a list:
1. I am so happy to be participating in Indigo Arts Alliance’s Holiday Pop Up Shop this year. I will have 8 paintings available–five unframed works on paper, and three framed works on paper. There are 27 other incredible artists participating this year and all proceeds directly support the artists and Indigo. The shop is open from 12pm-8pm December 1st through 4th. DON’T MISS IT!
2. I graduated from the Maine Master Naturalist Program! I am officially a Maine Master Naturalist! Remember back in November last year when I was like… “I just got accepted to…” WOW. Crazy to think about. So proud and so excited. Somewhat relieved but also very inspired and excited for what is to come in the next year.
3. Last week for my two paintings available at Speedwell Contemporary! Someone snatch these cuties up. <3
4. I am preparing work that will be featured at Deanna Evans Projects for their online Flat File Show “Trove” that will launch in the new year. Stay tuned.
5. Shows I saw this month: the 8 x 8 Show at Notch8 Gallery in Portland, and “Stay Black and Die” at Cove Street Arts. See some highlights below.
6. I am 4 books away from completing my yearly reading challenge… I think I can do this… I have two in progress and two more to go for the last month.
Currently reading: Time Is a Mother by Ocean Vuong and Faithful and Virtuous Night by Louise Gluck.
Next up: Sally Rooney’s Beautiful World, Where Are You, and Bell Hooks’s All About Love.
7. I have been slowly wading my way back into the studio and I don’t want to jinx it. But it feels really good. I hope this feeling carries me into 2023. I’m kind of excited for the fresh start.
Thank you all for reading this past year. I am so grateful for this outlet and way to share with you all.
See y’all in 2023.
