THE MONTH OF LOVE! Happy February! I hope you are having a wonderful start to your 2023! It's been busy at The Good Eggs Foundation. We are |
planning our March fundraiser - see the exciting info below! |
Before we meet our February Good Egg, here's what's new: |
Save the date for our March fundraiser! The Good Eggs Foundation has teamed up with Buddy's Pizza for a delicious way to put some goodness into our world! |
And the best part is all you have to do is eat! Buddy's will donate 20% of the participants' meals to The Good Eggs Foundation. This is a fun way to celebrate with friends and family, while helping the kids of our community with their basic needs. There are two dates to choose from - East Side/West Side (sounds like a competition to me!) Click one of the sides and sign up, either dine in or carry out. A quota is needed for the event to run - thank you! |
In case you weren't able to catch any of The Good Eggs Video Series, it's now available on demand at the Michigan Learning Channel |
LAST MONTH'S "EGGING" In January, we Egged Hope Care and Beyond, an organization that works very hard to bring resources to immigrants in our immediate area. |
Refugee, immigrant and disenfranchised families and individuals can access food, clothing, housewares, ESL classes, citizenship and cultural assimilation classes, sewing skill classes, and many other resources and services. We were able to provide nine immigrant children with clothing and toys! |

WHAT ARE THE EGGS UP TO THIS MONTH? (Book 1, Chapter 6) February - Love After last month's play performance, Ms. Poach gave each Egg a beautiful crystal heart as a gift. The Eggs decided to make Ms. Poach a huge Valentine's Day card as a thank you for the crystal hearts. Peggy ended up losing her heart and Benedict found it, but he refused to give it back. |
As they were working on Ms. Poach's card, after a series of mishaps, Seggourney convinced Benedict that "love works best when you give it away." Benedict had a change of "heart" and returned Peggy's lost treasure, which brought a huge smile to her face. |

Now let's meet our February Good Egg! |

A Girl Like Me, Inc is a (501(c)3) located in Detroit. Their mission is to educate and encourage girls, teens, teen moms, and young moms between the ages of 11 to 25 to make healthy life choices. They started as an exceedingly small, grassroots effort, with funding primarily from donations, selling t-shirts, and personal investments. They providing at risk, low income teenage girls, ages 11-17 and also young mom’s up to 25 who may not have any family or friend support in the community with education, resources, support, mentoring, and basic needs necessary to help them make educated decisions about their future. |
| | Becoming a teen mom at the age of 14 and not telling anyone until the week of my daughter's birth, I remember all of my family and friends providing needed baby items for my daughter that lasted for two years. I knew one day I needed to pay it forward for girls, teens and moms in situations like mine. |
| | We provide free items such as feminine products, diapers, wipes, new and gently used baby clothing, shoes and other items. We provide mentoring programs for girls, teens and teen moms, 11 to 17, and resources for food and housing, school, daycare, jobs and transportation. |
| | Volunteers are needed for sorting, donations, event setups and break-downs, and grant writing. We are always in need of diapers, wipes and feminine product donations. We also have events coming up in 2023, such as a Vision Board Party, Mother's Day Giveaway, Spring Cleaning Giveaway and a Book Release. |
I see A Girl Like Me, Inc. co-op apartments where we'll house teen and young moms up to 25. We'll offer high school classes, job training, a job clothing closet, a daycare center and more to help the moms get on their feet. I also see us having free hubs around the world where girls, teens and moms can access free feminine products, diapers and wipes every two weeks. |
Thank you, Tyra - you are providing wonderful programs and assistance to the young women! I hope you enjoyed reading about A Girl Like Me, Inc.! You can find more information on their website. Next month's interview will feature a man helping to bridge the gap for children in our community! |
See you in March and thanks for being a Good Egg! Kindly, Sandy (Ciaramitaro) Mals Founder and President The Good Eggs Foundation |
