This month kicks off the crisp days, crunchy leaves, cozy sweaters, #spookyszn, Homecoming and the Holidays! It’s such a thrill watching the seasons change: A reminder that to grow, we have to welcome change and let go!
Happy Fall, y’all!
Our October Grantee: Guadalupe Maravilla
From left to right: Tour de Force Director of Civic Engagement, Paul Emmanuel; Visiting Artist Guadalupe Maravilla; Tour de Force Founder and CEO, Meg Clerc and Mount Royal School of Art Program Director, Professor Luca Buvoli.
Multidisciplinary artist, Guadalupe Maravilla delivered an artist talk to the public in the Lazarus Auditorium at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore on October 8, 2024. The talk was presented by the Mount Royal School of Art and was attended by a full house! Keep a lookout for more free artist talks in the future!
Guadalupe Maravilla combines sculpture, paintings, drawings, performance art, and installations to convey his experiences with activism and healing. He largely reflects his experience as an immigrant, fleeing civil war in El Salvador and settling in the United States, through his art.
This month we amplify the work of our previous grantee, the Don’t Be A Bully Project. The project aims to reduce instances of teen bullying through musicals and skits.
BURN Documentary released “Days Before Burn” documenting the production teams’ artistic and personal journey while working on the BURN Documentary series.
We're always eager to connect with artists and educators in the DMV area who are passionate about creating social impact through their work. Whether you have an idea for a community-based project or if you simply want to learn more about our grant opportunities, we'd love to hear from you!
