Whew! Idalia was way too close for comfort and I, for one, could use a quiet summer and fall this year. After all, we just received bids for repairing our home this morning from Ian! Enough with the hurricanes already. We’re fast approaching the end of summer with Labor Day weekend just around the corner. I’ve heard that many island organizations are starting to plan events for the fall and winter months. And in just about a month, many of our winter residents will begin their migration back to the land of Fun in the Sun. I always look forward to this time of year, between attending events, socializing with friends, and seeing those who have been away for months. Ah! The Change of Seasons. Our General Membership meeting is on Tuesday, September 12th, at Fine Swine. We’ll be presenting checks to the teachers and Principal Tom from the PIE Derby that we hosted in May. Don’t forget that dues must be paid by October 31st for participation in the November election, and that you can submit nominations for the 2024 Officers and Board of Directors beginning in September. If you are considering running for a position and would like more information, please reach out to any of the current or past Board Members. We’re in the process of updating all of our job descriptions and will be posting those to our website soon. Get some rest and stay healthy! Madam DJ |

Hey all you trashy Hookers! Mark your calendars and join us on Saturday, September 9, at 8:30 am. We'll meet in Matlacha at Blue Dog and go east to Miceli's, and west to Yucatan - both sides of the street. We'll equip everyone with trash pickers, safety vests, gloves, trash bags, bug spray and plenty of water. The more people who show up, the faster the clean up goes. We're usually done in less than 90 minutes. We team up in pairs and head out with half going on one side of Pine Island towards the Yucatan, and the other half towards Miceli's. There will be no sign up, as our next meeting follows on September 12. Please just show up, ready to clean up! Thanks in advance for your participation. We're looking forward to seeing your smiling faces on Saturday, September 9th. Grab your hubby, neighbor, best friend - this is an activity that nets immediate results. Afterwards you can proudly drive thru Matlacha, knowing that you have made an amazing difference in our community. Plus - a little fresh air and exercise is a great way to kick off the weekend!
