December Meeting Details

The December Tucker 4-H meeting is going to be one you do not want to miss! The meeting will be Monday, December 12th at 7pm in the cafeteria. Aside from having cookies and cocoa for refreshments, we will be making ornaments for a nursing home. We are also collecting new (or like new) toys for the Toys 4 Tots program. There will be someone from their organization who will talk briefly about what they do. But the most fun part of the night will be the dice game! Everyone who wants to play should bring three wrapped items ($1 each).

Just to sum up what to bring:

1. A new or like new toy for Toys 4 Tots to donate, these do not need to be wrapped.

2. Three $1 gifts wrapped in Christmas paper

We can’t wait to see you there!

Ham Donation for the Veteran's Outreach

Please consider donating to the Racine County 4-H ham collection for Veteran's Outreach.

They were short of their goal with the turkeys, and it would be so great to help them reach their ham goal.

Hams can be dropped off at the Ives Grove Office building parking lot on Sat. Dec. 10 9:00-11:00 AM.

One young junior leader from another club told her friends and family of the collection and she was able to collect 25 turkeys!

Tucker 4-H Leader Spotlight

Kelly and Jennifer Clingaman

The Automotive Project: Mr. Kelly Clingaman

This is Mr. Clingaman's first time as a 4-H volunteer but he has previously been a part of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, he knows how rewarding it is to watch kids have fun and learn. He currently works at the Milwaukee VA as a Cyber Security Officer. He learned to fix cars by working with his dad in the 70's & 80's, then worked as a Mechanic in San Diego in the 90s. Mr. Clingaman plans to have his project members make a model car/truck/engine - and explain the functions.

The Quilting Project: Mrs. Jennifer Clingaman

Mrs. Clingaman has been a 4-H volunteer for 6 years, 2 as a co-leader. She was in the Lamberton and Raymond 4-H clubs when she was a kid. Mrs. Clingaman has a lot of good memories of going to camp and trying different projects. Her favorite projects were showing rabbits and photography. She did take sewing and made a pillowcase, shorts and pajamas and even modeled the pajamas at the Fair. She even has a record book from back then! She retired from the Navy after 21 years of service, worked at Joanne Fabrics for two years and is currently working at the Milwaukee VA processing Pension claims. She started quilting when she retired from the Navy. Her goal was to make a quilt with her Mother and she just hasn't stopped since. She has now been quilting for 12 years and has learned her skills from her Mother, other quilters and takes classes every year. There is always more than one way to make a quilt, she is always learning something new, sometimes even from the kids! She is the co-leader with TC Wiley. She and Mrs. Wiley will continue to use a basic pattern for first year quilters. They will work with returning quilters to choose patterns at the members skill level so they can learn more and become even better quilters! Mrs. Clingaman enjoys teaching quilting and watching the kids make a project they are proud of.

Night with the Stars

Racine County 4-H members in 3-6 grade are invited to attend "Night with the Stars" at Raymond School on January 14-15.

The theme this year is "A Night in Fantasy Land" and there are many fun activities being planned.

This is one of the events 4-H members look most forward to during the year!

Junior leaders are needed as counselors and have as much fun as the younger attendees.

This year, there is a special need for parent chaperones who have completed all of the required trainings.

Keep in mind that if you are considering attending with your child, you will need to be enrolled as a leader and all of the trainings will need to be completed by then.
