Sharing Conversations and Opportunities

  • The Writers Guild of America West's latest report found that Middle Eastern screenwriters and TV writers accounted for 0.3% of employed scribes in the two fields.

What do we make of this? How can we contribute to changing this? Let me know your thoughts!

  • An offer of one off grants from Stratford Circus:

"As part of our ending well plans, we have an exciting opportunity to award 5 emerging artists from East London with £2000 award towards your creative practice or development of a new creative idea which connects your work to communities within East London. A contributing factor to us wanting to have this opportunity for artists was a result of some of the curious conversations we had regarding how organisations can support artists and creatives, and the importance of having access to resources, in this instance money to better support their creative practice.

To be eligible to apply for the award, you need to be an artist with up to 2 years' experience in your creative practice and be based in and/or have proven connection to communities in East London."

Our position on endorsement.

Our main areas of work is to help connect the creative industries with UK MENA+ talent, so we will always share castings, job opportunities, or marketing information. We will track these projects in the hope that they are a great example of how MENA+ talent is used. But by sharing this information, it should not be seen as an endorsement of the project.

We will call out work that is appropriating a MENA+ narrative and does not have MENA+ talent at the heart of the creative process; and we will always champion, front and centre, work that is made for and by MENA+ talent.
