Thank you for visiting the shop and for bringing along your friends! |

We are so very lucky and grateful to have four interns join us at SewGreen@Rochester this summer! They have shared a little bit about themselves below, starting from left to right. |
My name is James and I went to Irondequiot high school, I am in the summer of opportunity program , and my goal here at SewGreen is to learn how to communicate with other people and keep a friendly environment in the shop. The project me and my co workers are making is a giant quilt representing SewGreen and our community. |
My name is Aniyah and I attend Odyssey Academy in Greece. I became a part of SewGreen through the program Summer of Opportunities for the Youth. This is my first year doing this program and as an intern at the shop I want to gain more knowledge on how to make my own clothes as well as learning about different types of materials and fabrics. SewGreen is doing a great thing by up cycling used fabric and selling it for a inexpensive price and I'm glad that I have the opportunity to be a part of this. Hopefully, I learn more about sewing because I have my own sewing machine and eventually be able to make my own clothes at home by the end of the summer if I stay encouraged and motivated. |
My name is De'Yoni and I am in the 11th grade. I attend School of the Arts. I am from the program Summer of Opportunities for the Youth. I hope to gain more knowledge on sewing and the different types of sewing machines. I also hope to understand the difference between fabrics and what they are used for. I would also hope to learn how to sew different types of clothing. Such as, pants, skirt, etc. The dynamic of SewGreen is very friendly and gives a homey feeling, which i like. I Like that it is not just a store but a learning place for all. |
My name is Summer and I go to Irondequoit High school. This upcoming school year I will finally be a senior! This is my second time here at SewGreen for the summer as an intern and I came back because I feel that working here gives me the experience that I'll need for my career field of interest which is fashion design/ business. I've actually been sewing for a while, when I was younger I'd hand sew doll clothes myself. I'm self taught and when I got my first real sewing machine I got right to work. Currently, I have four sewing machines and make clothes sometimes. Last year around winter/ spring I had two outfits in a fashion show with InControl, another program I was in. I'm hoping that being here the next few months will motivate me to create more, learn more and gain more experience. I'm hoping that I'll be able to go to FIT in New York next fall to continue my fashion journey. |

Our very first intern stopped in for a visit yesterday to say hello! Kentrayl joined the SewGreen community when our store was located over on Arnett Blvd. We were overjoyed to see him and to hear about his future endeavors! |
