The 19th Ward Square Fair is coming up on Saturday, June 2nd and SewGreen@Rochester will be there from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. We'll have two treadle sewing machines, and cardboard weaving looms for you to try! The fair starts with a great pancake breakfast at 8:00 a.m. There will also be a parade, vendors, games, activities, lunch grills, and entertainment. This all takes place at Aberdeen Square Park, 330 Post Ave. For more information about The 19th Ward Community Association, please visit their website! |

Fearless Fashion Camp, July 9th - 13th, & 16th - 20th from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Learn how to design your own clothes in this two week camp! We'll guide you along with each step, from your sketch to finishing your garment. This camp is for ages 10 and up. |

Continental Knitting, July 9th, & 16th from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Learn how to knit faster, and with ease by understanding how to hold the yarn differently, eliminating the yarn over in English-style knitting. All levels welcome, from absolute beginner to advanced! |

Sewing Machine Maintenance, July 14th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. This class will take place outside! Weather permitting of course. We'll teach you how to keep your sewing machine in tip top shape! You'll learn the best ways to clean out the dust, fluff and bits of thread that clog your machine's action, and the safest ways to lubricate its parts. |

Circular Weaving, July 23rd, & 30th from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Woven wall hangings are popular again! Create a unique circular fiber art piece by learning how to weave using a round weaving tool. Attend both weekly sessions, or come as you are able. |

Hand-tied Prayer Beads, July 28th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Learn how to use nylon cording to create a couple different varieties of prayer/meditation beads. |

Block by Block Quilt Class Learn the basics of machine piecing a quilt by making a different block each week in May. Whether you have never quilted before or have some experience, we’ll help you master the basics of rotary cutting, sewing a perfect 1/4” seam, and combining fabrics for a pleasing design. Each week you will cut out and sew one or two blocks. You may choose fabrics from our collection or bring fabrics of your own. $35 for the 5 week session or $10 drop-in. Offered every Wednesday in June from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Learn to Crochet with Joanna Have you always wanted to learn how to crochet? Now's your chance! Join us at the shop as Joanna teaches the basics of crocheting, and more! Offered Monday, June 4 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Zippers made Easy Need closure? Learn how to sew in zippers. Make them invisible or flaunt them! Come learn how. Prerequisite: Sewing Machine 101 Offered Tuesday, June 5 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sewing Machine 101/201 Make friends with a sewing machine in our shop, or bring yours from home. We will take you through the basics of machine operation and safety, and guide you toward sewing a project. In Sewing Machine 201, build on the skills you've gained in Sewing Machine 101. Is there a sewing project that interests you, or that you want to complete? How can your newly-gained sewing machine skills help you achieve that goal? This is the place and time to learn! These classes are great for ages 10 & up (or younger with an adult present). Prerequisite: Sewing Machine 101 Offered Saturday, June 9 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Offered Tuesday, June 19 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Crochet Flower Shawl Crochet some wearable flowers for Spring and Summer! In this class you'll learn how to crochet openwork stitches to create lace and flower shapes within this pretty shawl. Attend all classes, or come as you are able. $10 per 2-hour class. Offered Monday, June 11, 18, & 25 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. *June 18th afternoon class only |

Measure-Up/Fit-It Do you have clothing items that almost work, but not quite? Bring them in and we will assist you in getting a good fit by teaching you the art of alteration. Offered Tuesday, June 12 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Patchwork Tote Bag Want a simple way of building up your machine-sewing skills? Join us for this class! We will provide the materials, and you will leave with a brand new tote bag! And don't forget to bring your new tote bag in on a Scrappy Saturday! You can fill it with scraps and yarn ends for just $5, and who knows? You might make another bag from the scraps! Attend all classes, or come as you are able. $10 per 2-hour class. Offered Thursday, June 14, 21, & 28 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Serger 101/201 Sergers can be a little intimidating but they are great sewing tools once you understand how to use and adjust them to suit your project! In the 101 class, learn the basics of threading and tension. For Serger 201, you've learned the basics but want to go further! Bring your serger, or sit down at the shop sergers. If you bring your own, don't forget your serger's manual and all its feet, too! Offered Saturday, June 16 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Hand Embroidery Embrace the fading art of embroidery. From lazy daisy and feather stitches to French knots and blanket stitching, let's rediscover fine needlework together! Ages 5 and up. Offered Saturday, June 23 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Creative Serger Pin-tucking, faux cording, flat-locking, differential feed know-how with stretch fabrics from Mara Hoffman, and the guest appearance of a cover-stitch machine for you to test-drive. What's not to love? Offered Tuesday, June 26 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Working with Dress Forms Learn how padding a dress form can help you put together outfits and understand the fit of your clothing. Professional measurements will be included. Offered Saturday, June 30 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. |

Remember... Every Saturday is Scrappy Saturday! Our small scrappy bags stuffed with scraps and rolls of fabric and/or unmarked balls of yarn are only $1 all day (regularly $3 on weekdays). Bring your own grocery-sized tote and stuff it full for only $5 (regularly $10). Stop by and fill a bag this Saturday, and every Saturday! |
