Thank you to everyone who came out to our Easter Egg Hunt! The day was a huge success for all! Many eggs were found, lots of Montessori questions answered, and we even gave a few enrollment application packets to seriously interested families! A HUGE thank you to Salado Creek Living for inviting us to co-host this year, and hopefully for years to come. |

Volunteer Day Success! Dads, moms, grandpa's, and friends all came together this weekend to make some important changes and improvements to our learning environments. Check out some of the work in progress: |

We've seen some beautiful flowers around campus this Spring! Since we are all new to the property, it's been a surprise each week to see what pops up and shares its blossoms with us. We've also been teaching the children about edible (dandelions, clover), and non-edible plants in our yard. How many of the flowers, buds and fruits can you identify? |

Donation Request Well, folks, we've lost our fridge. Leave it to trying to save money to cause more to be spent! We purchased a used fridge and it's already bitten the dust, unfortunately. If you, or anyone you know, happens to have an extra fridge that isn't in use, let us know, please! We'd be ever so grateful, and the meat wouldn't go bad anymore either. ;-0 |

We had a birthday this last week! Our oldest learner, Hanna, turned five! The Montessori approach to birthday celebrations is just wonderful. The "celebration gives a concrete way for young children to understand the months of the year and the earth’s revolution around the sun each year." A candle is placed on our rug and surrounded by 12 paper labels with each month of the year written. The special birthday kiddo is given a globe to hold and walks, slowly, around the candle "through" each month. In Hanna's case, she circumvented the candle (you guessed it!) five times. To learn more about this special ceremony and the accompanying song, check out this link: livingmontessorinow.com/activity-of-the-week-montessori-birthday-celebration |

VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION Our volunteer day was such a success thanks to the amazing moms, dads, grandpa's, and friends who showed up to lend a hand. Despite the surprisingly cold and windy day, we managed to build a fence outside that will provide free access to our outdoor work for all of our students! As a bonus, there were so many helping hands on deck that Ms. Webb was able to choreograph a complete rearrangement of the classroom, something that frequently happens mid-semester at brand new schools. Thank you Tim, Amanda, Bennet, Sarah, Luke, Z, Josh, Mira, Papa, Grandpa Wes and Ginger for your time and work! We are so grateful for each of you. May you take pride in your accomplishment and enjoy the stamp of ownership you placed on your kiddos' little school! |

The Key to Success A note from the Founder One of the primary reasons Jake and I chose to establish a Montessori school for Salado was because of the direct link between happiness, success, and Montessori education. "Maria Montessori realized that success in academics was just one factor for a student’s success in life. For her, education was a means to cultivate a successful human being. But our modern society has lost sight of that goal. Instead, success at education has become a goal in of itself. "Montessori pioneered the development of character, personality, and leadership as integral to the education process. We see this philosophy in the day-to-day practices implemented in the Montessori classroom. For example, the child is encouraged to explore the classroom environment, learning at their own pace. The curriculum is multidisciplinary, with cross-cutting concepts to motivate the child to work from their own interest and abilities. Student classes comprise cohorts of three-year age groups. The mixed ages allow the teacher, students, and parents to develop supportive and trusting relationships, while the students mentor and collaborate with others of varying ages. Various other strategies comprising the Montessori approach develop the character that contributes to one’s fulfillment as a human being."
