“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.” ― Charles M. Schulz Blackjack Animal Rescue has been busy since Thanksgiving. We went to work the Wednesday before Thanksgiving saving 4 Catahoulas from one shelter in Texas, and now we're up to 9 Catahoulas and Curs between Texas, Georgia and Louisiana! When we rescue a big group of dogs like this, it takes many hours of coordination, a wonderful group of foster parents, and money – for transport and vetting. Our foster parents are amazing! So many stepped up knowing the holiday season was upon us and their foster was coming just before Christmas. We also had many first-time fosters taking in a dog for the holidays! If you would like to learn more about fostering, please email at Rachel@blackjackrescue.org You can also submit a foster application here. |

I have personally asked for a lot of donations over this past year; it is not something I enjoy doing – nor do I feel that I have gotten better at asking. We are a small rescue that has a dedicated team that loves saving lives! I truly can’t express my gratitude to everyone that has donated to us in the past and hopefully in the future. |

Our biggest expense rescuing this many dogs at once is the cost of transport and vetting. Typically, you can spread out all your costs when you rescue a few dogs at a time, but 9 or 10 conjointly is big financial hit! If you can help with any of our expenses, please paypal.me/blackjackrescue. |

This year we struggled with rescuing so many heartworm positive dogs. It continues to be financially and emotionally draining on the rescue, our foster homes, and most importantly, our dogs! We are thankful we never have to say no to a heartworm positive dog due to their condition. We are continuing treatment for the dogs we currently have that are heartworm positive. Thank you for helping us accomplish this goal. We still have items in our store that help pay for vetting and heartworm treatment. Please check out the store and order an amazing calendar! We hope all our wonderful adopters, donors, fosters and supporters have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, or as we say around here, Happy Houladays. We wish everyone a safe and blessed new year and are thrilled about the new and exciting things we have in store for 2018. Sharon Bryant 24/7 dog lover & Director of Blackjack Animal Rescue |

On December 24, 2015, there was a lot of pressure on Mollie......literally. It was just before 2 am on Christmas Eve, and there were a lot of creatures stirring. Mollie was in labor! Excitement for the new puppies, nervousness for how the labor would go and sleepy because, like I said, it was 2 am. After over 11 hours of restlessness and anxiety, they began to arrive at 1:24 pm. |

When it was all said and done, more than 6 and a half hours had passed and 9 beautiful, healthy puppies joined the Blackjack family. They were the "Persons of Interest" pups and they were spectacular. They all went to great homes and are doing well. We even have a group of the families in contact still, giving us pupdates often. It has been a great joy to see them evolve and grow into the wonderful creatures they are. Momma Mollie and her pups have been one of many great Blackjack success stories. |

We are delighted to share our newest design- “Merry Christmas and Happy Houladays”. This design was inspired from the “ugly Christmas sweaters”. We have only a limited number left and when sold out, they will will be locked in The Vault until next season. It is available in red or green, with an off-white print. |

By shopping in our Blackjack shop you are directly helping dogs in need, and helping us pay for dogs in our care. We had a week in October, where we had multiple dogs sick, in different foster homes, which meant different vet’s offices were all being used; by supporting us through our shop you are helping us with our bills! I know it doesn’t sound like fun but we couldn’t be more grateful. |
