August 2017 News

Scribbles by Shirley

We celebrated Canada Day with our friends and neighbours in Pakenham and Almonte and then July was simply a jam packed month. We enjoyed Celtfest, Almonte Fair and Five Wednesdays In July Concerts in Augusta Park, all great opportunities to spend more time with family and friends! Make sure you check the list of local events in our newsletter and pick up The Humm to ensure you don't miss out on anything this month.

McGregor's Produce supplied us with delicious strawberries for Fulton's jam (available in the Maple Shoppe and the Online Store) and for my famous strawberry shortcake for the Grandkids.

Team Awesome continues to pack lots of maple orders, work through the off-season to do list, prepare for year-end July 31st, serve our drop-in customers and on sunny days play hooky and go kayaking - what a great way to decompress.

We are very excited to have two new spas using Maple Luscious products, Fairmont Château Montebello in Quebec and Elmwood Spa in downtown Toronto. Fulton's staff were guests at a recent media event at Elmwood Spa and had opportunity to promote our spa line to bloggers and influencers from the GTA. And when you visit the Peggy's Cove area of Nova Scotia this summer you can pick up our Maple Luscious products at Acadian Maple Products.

Our family cottage week is coming up in August. The excitement builds as all the Grandgirls and Grandboys plan their week together on and in Centennial Lake. A sign our family is expanding and maturing: we will be welcoming two boyfriends this year.

We will soon be gathering at Fulton's to celebrate our biennial Fulton Reunion. It's a time for generations of Fulton's to share stories, reflect on our past and plan our future.

Our family is very honoured to officially open the 2017 Pakenham Fair. Come out and spend time at this amazing one-day fair on Saturday, August 19, 9am-4pm. The opening is at Noon. It's a family tradition in our community. Make it your family's connection to our agricultural community.

Enjoy August, we all hope for sun and warmth to promote growth and allow harvesting of our farmers crops and to ensure loads of outdoor fun.

Sweet maple wishes to you,

Shirley Fulton-Deugo

Fulton's Around the World

In February 2017 Fulton's hosted three Japanese tour operators at our farm. They toured the Sugar Camp, watched as trees were tapped, interviewed family, had a meal in the Pancake House and took away a some maple gift items. They brought with them some copies of the January-February 2017 edition of Japan Airline Inflight Magazine AGORA, featuring a 10-page article entitled 'The Story About Maple Syrup' that included some Fulton family and site photos. We are so proud to host international visitors to our property.

Day Tripping

Out for a drive? Fairmont Le Château Montebello in Quebec is only an hour and forty minute drive from the Almonte area, quite doable for a day trip. They have many opportunities for outdoor activities, some yummy restaurants and of course the Spa, which features Fulton's Maple Luscious body care line. Have more time? Make it a 2-day or more staycation!
