Dear Arapahoe County Republicans! So much is going on in our County! Our wonderful Candidates are hard at work participating in Candidate Forums, Meet & Greets, and Fundraisers. They’re walking their districts, attending community meetings and writing Op-Eds. Your leadership team is updating the website often with helpful information on our website candidate page and a calendar of upcoming events to support them. Watch the calendar because more events will be listed in the next days. We had a tremendously successful Lincoln Day Dinner/Fundraiser Event and we’re developing strategies to use the donations in the most effective way to help all our candidates win. Those of you who know me well have heard me say, “If I ever have any success in my life, it’s nothing I’ve done personally. I’ve always been blessed with great people to help me.” I believe our candidates would say the same thing. I would go even further and remind you of this: YOU ARE THE GREAT PEOPLE THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL! You must help them win by donating your time AND your MONEY! Check out their websites to donate. Attend the upcoming events listed in our website to show your support! Volunteer to walk districts or make phone calls. Talk to your neighbors about why it’s so important to elect Republicans to protect our rights and improve out communities. TAKE TIME FOR THANKFUL REMEMBRANCE THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND… Most of the country will enjoy time with family and friends over the Memorial Day weekend and Monday’s holiday. I hope we will all take time for thankful remembrance for all our veterans who served this country and paid the ultimate price so that we may enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These great people did not waver. They held the line and stood their ground, for all of us – so we can be free. I hope in turn, we can try to live lives that honor them and their sacrifice. Get involved. Find ways to better our communities and defend the conservative values that shaped our country. May God bless our fallen heroes and may God bless the United States of America. |

Candidate Forum for US Colorado Congressional District 4 * This is "Part 1" of a two-part newsletter. Please see the details below. |

Your Arapahoe County Party attempts to keep you informed as much as possible to help us all elect good candidates who can effectively represent us at the national, state and local levels. We have a Colorado Primary Election approaching to be held on Tuesday, June 25. There is only one contested Primary race among Arapahoe-related Republicans and that is for the Congressional District 4 seat which covers a vast area of Northern, Southeastern and Central Colorado. US House of Representatives Congressman Ken Buck has recently resigned his position representing these good people which places a Special Election on the ballot to replace him for the six months left in his term. This gives you two votes to cast. First, you will vote for Greg Lopez, the only Republican running to replace Ken Buck. This "Special Election" will be clearly identified on the ballot. It is vitally important that Greg wins the Special Election to keep the seat in Republican hands and retain our House majority. Second, you will also vote for a Republican who will represent you and our party into the future, beginning on January 4, 2025. We asked each of the six very strong candidates running for CD4 to briefly introduce themselves and then answer four important questions. We asked them to limit their response to 600 words. Here are the six candidates: Lauren Boebert Deborah Flora Richard Holtorf Mike Lynch Jerry Sonnenberg Peter Yu
The introduction request and the three questions we posed are: Introduction: Please provide a 3 point highlight introducing yourself. What are your top 5 priority projects to accomplish if elected? Some of our previous and current Colorado Congressional Representatives seem disconnected from their Party and from their constituency. How can we have confidence you won't do the same? What makes you more electable than your opponents?
The candidates responded to our questions and shared with us why they believe they are the best person to fill the CD4 seat and what they will do if elected. * Included below is a statement from Greg Lopez. Also here are responses from three of the six CD4 candidates. The remaining three CD4 candidate's responses will be contained in a second newsletter we will send you in a few days. |

Candidates for U.S. House of Representatives Congressional District 4 |

Greg Lopez is running as the Republican candidate in a Special Election to complete former Congressman Buck's remaining 6 month term. Greg is running against a Democrat in this Special Election. Here is Greg's promise to you. |
|
|
Let me start by saying, “It is a privilege and an honor to be selected as the Republican representative for the CD4 June 25th Special Election.” My goal is to be a strong conservative voice in Congress for the remaining 6 months, and to be a strategic partner for the primary winner. We have a great slate of candidates vying to be a member of the 119th U.S. Congress as the representative for CD4. I look forward to promoting the candidate who will proceed onto the General Election. Be assured that my team and I will work hard to protect the CD4 congressional seat. We will not allow the Democrats to take this very important position away from us. I ask that each of you stand alongside me in this battle. Together we will be victorious. Let us make history and shape the future of Colorado and our country. Elected representatives work for the people and should always be held accountable for their actions. Leadership is bold action, not just holding a position and actions speak louder than words. I am running to serve you - not as a placeholder - but to serve as a principle-holder for the founding principles of our country and the values that unite the people of Colorado. Here's more of who I am and what I've accomplished along the way: Former candidate for Colorado Governor 2018 & 2022 Pres. & CEO of Colorado Hispanic Republicans Elected Mayor / City Manager of Parker, CO at age 27 Former President of the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce A veteran of the United States Air Force Small Business Owner Married to Lisa for 36 years with two adult children Lives in Elizabeth, Colorado
Please don't overlook the Special Election on your Primary Ballot and please cast your vote for me so we can keep a Republican in this seat and maintain our party's majority in the U.S. Congress! Thank you! Greg Lopez |

Introduction: Give a 3 point highlight introducing yourself Deborah Flora is a wife of an 82nd Airborne Veteran, proud mother of two young adults, small business owner, and radio host who grew up in Colorado on Lowry Air Force Base. As the Founder of Parents United America, she has been on the front lines fighting for parental rights and educational freedom, and as a Director of Public Policy, she has advocated and testified for issues impacting the citizens of Colorado and people across the country. She is a Constitutional Conservative who has been fighting alongside her neighbors in CD4 for years, from the school board to the state house and now she is ready to take that fight to Congress.
What are your top 5 priority projects to accomplish if elected? Secure the border and restore our sovereignty Balance the budget and slash the deficit Unleash American energy and reduce inflation Hold government accountable and end over-regulation Protect families and our freedoms
To see my "Roadmap To Restoring America," please visit my website and see my full, well-defined plan of what I will do to support you. Some of our previous and current Colorado Congressional Representatives seem disconnected from their Party and from their constituency. How can we have confidence you won't do the same? I have put 15,000 miles on my car and been at over 250 events listening to the citizens in all 21 counties in CD4. That is how I will represent the citizens. As their Congresswoman, I will be very present all over the district, coming back directly from DC to hear from constituents. I will have three offices to cover this vast district: one in northeast, southeast and the central area of Colorado to provide excellent and responsive constituent services. I will hold frequent townhalls with stakeholders while considering legislation related to energy, agriculture, business, and other key issues. CD4 is my home, and the voters are my neighbors. I will make sure that I am fully present to be accountable and to represent their voice and values.
What makes you more electable than your opponents? It is time to send someone to Washington who understands the challenges we face every day far away from the personal power plays in DC and will hold overreaching bureaucrats accountable. That is why I am running for the U.S. Congress. I have won multiple endorsements from important Coloradans including county commissioners, city council members and city mayors, state representatives and sheriffs; famous patriots Gary Sinise, Laura Carno and John Caldara as well as from organizations like The Gazette newspaper in Colorado Springs. I am a small business owner, a wife, and a mom. Unlike career politicians, I will stand for what matters most to all of us. I have a proven record of standing strong for our shared values from the School Board to the State House, and now I am ready to stand for all of us in the U.S. Congress. |

Richard Holtorf is an Afghanistan combat veteran who retired as a Colonel from the US Army, 3rd generation cattle rancher, and a no nonsense conservative Legislator for the last 5 years. He and his wife Mary have been married for 31 years, have 5 daughters and 2 grandchildren, and live on Buffalo Springs Ranch north of Akron, CO. Introduction: Give a 3 point highlight introducing yourself I use my 3 college degrees, 29 years of US Army leadership, and 18 years of wisdom as a small business owner finding real solutions to help real people in the Colorado House and shepherded 9 of 10 bills into law in 2024, while being outnumbered by Democrats 2 to 1. I have a detailed, 5-point plan that will secure the southern border in 60-90 days and is based on my experience stopping the Taliban at the Afghan-Pakistani border. Inflation is putting a real strain on households. We need to extend the 2017 tax cuts and unleash the US energy sector to provide relief from higher prices and boost the US economy.
What are your top 5 priority projects to accomplish if elected? Pass legislation linking federal funds to the Constitution and federal law, so states that flagrantly ignore federal law, such as Colorado with its sanctuary laws, have their federal dollars cut when they openly violate the Constitution or federal law. Use my 5-point plan to secure our borders by supporting civilian agencies with military assets to stop the flood of people and process them quickly back out. Repeal Biden’s “green” energy mandates to allow balanced growth of the US energy sector and reduce inflation. Pass term limits for Congress that limit service to 4 terms (8 years) in the House and 2 terms (12 years) in the Senate. Teach my colleagues the strategies I used successfully in the Colorado Legislature to counter the extreme far left Democratic agenda promoting socialism, gender ideology, and hatred of America.
Some of our previous and current Colorado Congressional Representatives seem disconnected from their Party and from their constituency. How can we have confidence you won't do the same? I believe many legislators lose touch with their constituents after serving many years in Congress and that is why I signed a term limit pledge just after I announced my candidacy. I have a ranch, so I don’t need the money lobbyists throw at representatives. It also means I understand the values and morals of those who live in eastern Colorado. My wife and I taught our daughters those same values and morals. After growing up on a ranch where the humans don’t eat until the livestock have eaten and serving 29 years in the US Army where I commanded up to 300 or more people, I understand what “selfless service” means. I do not need the ego boost of celebrity or fame that some of my opponents selfishly seek. What makes you more electable than your opponents? Judging by the number of policies my opponents have stolen, I seem to be one of only 2 in this race who generates original thoughts or solutions on issues. I speak 2 languages fluently, have lived in 7 countries, served 5 overseas tours including 2 combat tours (Germany, South Korea, and Afghanistan), and know more about geopolitics than all of my opponents combined. I’ve held the highest security clearances in the military, which combined with my Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, means I can immediately serve on the Armed Services or Foreign Affairs committees. When shooting wars are breaking out all over the world due to Biden’s ineffective appeasement, we need people in Congress who understand how the world works. I already serve on the Advisory Committee to the US House Agriculture Committee, so I am familiar with the Farm Bill discussions, current and proposed policy, and the people on the committee. |

Introduction: Give a 3 point highlight introducing yourself I am the only candidate that has lived in the district my entire life. I am a 4th generation farmer and rancher on our farm that has been in the family for over 100 years and still live in the same house where both my father and I were raised. I raised my children there and have deep roots in the community.
What are your top 5 priority projects to accomplish if elected? My priorities will focus on the issues that are important to the 4th Congressional District. 1. The highest of those would be to secure our border. The immigration crisis is a direct result of a failed Presidency and his policies to not enforce our current immigration laws. These policies have had a devastating effect on our communities both on a humanitarian level as well as creating a super highway for the drug cartels to poison our kids. 2. Another issue that has hit our state hard is inflation. It costs the average family and extra $15,000 a year to maintain their current standard of living for those necessary items needed just to survive. The size of government and their financial policies that have increased our national debt has driven the cost of gas, food and the products we use everyday have to change. The size of government needs to be reduced and the handing out free money that is ultimately paid for by taxpayers needs to be addressed. 3. Some of the other issues I would work on is doing away with omnibus bills that allow pork projects that have nothing to do with the policy addressed in legislation drafted in Congress. Colorado require a single subject be addressed in legislation and that should be done nationally as well. 4. Our elected officials should not get rich while in DC and there should be transparency into their financial positions while serving. I would also work on making sure they actually pass a budget each year and quit funding the government by continuing resolution. 5. I also support term limits and would work to implement limits on those serving in Congress so that we are not governed by career politicians but rather served by working citizens just like our forefathers suggested. Some of our previous and current Colorado Congressional Representatives seem disconnected from their Party and from their constituency. How can we have confidence you won't do the same? For 16 years I served in the Colorado Legislature with integrity and character. I represented my district by standing up to leadership and the lobbyists to work on issues that affected and were important to my large district and its residents. Part of the issue with other congressmen were they didn’t spend enough time in the district listening. I pledge to always be in the district and always listen to the people that elected me. I will work on their behalf as I did my constituents in the Legislature. What makes you more electable than your opponents? As the only candidate that has lived in the district their entire life, I understand the issues that are important to the people that live here. I own small businesses and raised my children here and have dealt with the same issues that the rest of the district has had to deal with. I have the experience and leadership skills from serving these same people well in the Legislature. I was the President Pro Tem of the Colorado Senate the last time the Republicans could stop the liberal agenda. I am a conservative that when my legislative bills to reduce your taxes were killed by the Democrats, I worked to place them on the ballot. In 2020 and 2022 we passed income tax reductions because of my tenacity to get things done and solve problems. I am proud of the work I did while serving you in the Legislature and I promise you will be proud of me as your Congressman. |
