Cultural Garden Updates

On December 21, 2023, Roberto Pinedo, PERUCAN-OH Development Chair, met with McSteen & Associates, Land Surveyors, Obie Shelton, representative of the African American Cultural Garden, and James McKnight, Landscape Architect for the City of Cleveland, to agree on and draw the boundaries of our Peruvian Cultural Garden. All present agreed with the original layout of our lot and proceeded to complete the Survey shown below.

McKnight stated that the next steps to continue with the development of the project were to share with the Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation this information and historical accomplishment. The following step is the garden design, which must be completed and formally presented to CCGF. Once the Federation approves our design, we will be ready to submit it to the Design Review Committee, DRC, which is responsible for submitting proposals to the Cleveland Landmarks Commission.

We are excited to share with you the stages and steps that we must complete shortly, which will require our attention and diligence. All of these steps are critical and decisive to achieving the creation of our Garden, and we will continue to keep you informed of our progress and challenges. Thank you for your continued interest and support.

ALTER

We are pleased to announce that the play ALTER, produced by Cleveland Public Theatre, will be performed at CPT's James Levin Theatre from February 8-24. In case you have not heard, this play was written by Tania Benites, a Peruvian playwright and actress.  The cast includes two Peruvian actresses: Mónica Olivera and Andrea de la Fuente. Enjoy the show, support our very own Peruvian artists, and bring your friends to the theatre!

All CPT shows are Pay What You Can! Click here for more details and ticket information.

“ALTER explores the difficulties of being a quiet person in a loud world, toxic self-help culture, and the myth that you must always be leveling up to be successful.” ―Tania Benites, playwright
