Hello Friends of Intersect!

When God streams his rays of  light into our lives, it gets our attention.  We feel the warmth of his embrace and we drop everything to linger in his presence.  And in that moment, it begs a response from our entire being.

The proper response centers around the Great Commandment, first listed in Deuteronomy 6.5, Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.  God instructed Moses to teach the nation of Israel to put these words in their hearts and to live it out in every aspect of life and with their families.

Jesus reiterates this command in the Gospels.  This command is so important because it brings our relationship with God into a vibrant and living faith.  It opens the door for us to understand the calling of God on our lives and to step into the pathway of living worthy of that calling as a child of God.

Through the ministry of Intersect, it is our passion to help you discover that pathway, and as Paul stated, to encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word.  2 Thessalonians 2.17.  We do it so that the King of Glory will receive all the glory!

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Effective leadership seldom begins on a large scale, but rather in a small group setting where the Word of God is opened and we discover how God has made us to lead.  These women in Nanyuki, Kenya, are learning that when they live in their God given strengths, is when they have the greatest impact and long term effectiveness for the LORD.

We have been able to extend our leadership influence through these women who have developed an online forum for us to talk about Lifeworkx.  Pastors and leaders can continue to connect with us as they find freedom in telling their real Story and Reframing those negative experiences in their lives.  We are grateful for Mercy and Liz who have helped make this possible after serving 375 pastors and leaders in February.

Just recently, Melodie and I hosted a weekend Lifeworkx Leadership event in Richmond.  The joy of being set free from wounds and hurts of the past is unmistakable!  This group declared:  We have believed the lie from the enemy long enough.  Today we will live in the truth found in Jesus Christ.  Hallelujah!

I am currently hosting another Lifeworkx event spread over 8 weeks due to time constraints and logistics.  God is doing another deep work of the heart in these sessions.

SPIRITUAL CONNECTIONS

One of the passions of Intersect, is to encourage us as believers to be ready for spiritual conversations, wherever the opportunity arises.

One conversation centered around working through family forgiveness issues.  Forgiveness is not denying the wounding, but in the example of Jesus, we are to redeem, restore and renew relationships with the people we love the most.

Houston wanted to know how to find assurance in his faith.  He had done some horrible things, but would Jesus forgive him of everything?  The Passion of Christ  during Holy Week brought the complete work of Jesus for him into focus.  Jesus took away his doubts and Houston could see himself as he beloved son.

I met Randolph Simmons in the Emergency Department over a medical hiccup last month.  In the hours of waiting [you know how that goes], Randolph told me his story.  He had been addicted for 20 years on drugs, but had been clean for 13 months with God’s help, he said.  I asked him what was next in his life.  He said he hoped to get to heaven some day.  Before I left the ER, Randolph found the assurance of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.  Praise God!

COACHING

Coaching is all about helping the other person find perspective or a break through in achieving a goal or finding a solution to a challenge.  My recent coaching has been involved in a number of different personal and business arenas.  Here are some of those Coaching conversations ...

  • Struggling with adult children making healthy choices

  • Conflict in marriage

  • Organizational realignment consultation

  • Redirecting negative issues into productive action steps

  • Dealing with emotional loss and emotional objectivity

  • Organizational financial structures

  • Working through company tragedy of personnel death

  • Developing professional career perspective and feeling unsupported in an administration role

The goal from a Christian stand point is to invite Jesus into each of these conversations, because it is his wisdom that we need the most.

FAMILY

It was a blue jean kind of Sunday for the boys.  It is such a joy to see them develop tender hearts for the LORD!

If we can serve you through any aspect of our Intersect Ministry, I hope you will reach out to us with any interest you may have.

We so value your prayers for the ministry of Intersect and would be honored to pray with you as you are led to share your life with us.  Thank you for your financial support and loving us in Christ!
