Dear Friends of Hauke Park,
In case you missed the 3/10 EAH Community Outreach meeting, we've included an abbreviated slideshow presented during the meeting. You can watch the entire 3/10 EAH meeting here and review the presentation packet here.
The key takeaways from the meeting were:
- EAH considers 40-50 units to be the minimum number to pencil out, but provided no support for that assertion. At that density, it is inevitable that the structure will be 4-stories or higher.
- EAH’s presentation focused largely on the benefits to future tenants (e.g., the view), and did not address our concerns.
- Although the city's consultant report excluded sites which are more than 10% grade, EAH's designs show a proposal which will cut into the Hamilton hillside, which is more than 10% grade.
- EAH has pre-determined sites for relocation of the public parking lot and the bathrooms (one option places the bathrooms on the playing field, which the City promised would not be intruded upon), and used a self-serving and unscientific ‘poll’ to try and demonstrate neighborhood support.
- EAH’s plan relies mostly on cramming additional cars onto existing overflow sites, such as the narrow PG&E lane that feeds onto Roque Moraes. No traffic study or CEQA reviews were made to determine appropriateness of these sites.
- 2-way Hamilton is not off the table.
The City has established a website for the Hamilton Project. Please sign up to receive notifications from the city.
The next opportunity for neighbors in the immediate vicinity to meet with EAH in-person will be:
- April 11, 6.30pm, Community Center Cascade Room (ENCHANTED KNOLLS)
- April 13, 6pm, pool area (EUCALYPTUS KNOLLS HOA)
Other neighborhoods will have meetings separately if so requested. These meetings are separate from the EAH workshop 2 on May 3.
We'll also be celebrating our very first FOHP Social on April 22, organized by Gabrielle Tierney. Please take note of these meetings and more (see calendar below).
Warm regards,
FOHP Communications Team
