#KEEPWELL Campaign Thanks to Meath County Council's support, we are able to reach out to young people across the county and support their mental health and well-being. As part of the national #KeepWell campaign, we are preparing packs full of goodies for young people. These packs will aid their physical and mental health and well-being by adding healthy and helpful habits to their daily and weekly routines. The #KeepWell campaign is brought to you by Healthy Ireland and supported by Meath County Council and Youth Work Ireland Meath. |

Meath Comhairle na nÓg Meath Comhairle na nÓg started off the year in spectacular fashion by addressing the councillors of Meath County Council at the first meeting of 2021. Members Emily Navagh Burke and Margarita Baturova, who have been on Meath Comhairle na nÓG since 2019, delivered a message to councillors that young people in county Meath are not satisfied with the facilities available in the county in comparison to other counties around the country. |
Councillors also offered support to the request by Meath Comhairle na nÓg members who are seeking to speak with agencies who work with young people about the possibility of a centralised youth facility in the county. Such a facility could see many agencies who work alongside young people located in one building, working together to drive Youth Work and young people forward in the short, medium and long term future. |
The members spoke of the need for the narrative around young people to change from that of anti-social behaviour to a message of positivity, focusing on the good things young people do instead of the negative.

YouthQuake SDG Work YouthQuake are keen advocates of the environment and working towards the SDG's to create a fair and just world for all to share. With support from Meath County Council's Community Environment Action Fund, the group developed a set of informational cards for each of the 17 SDG goals. Each card has a QR code which, using your camera phone, links to their page on the Youth Work Ireland Meath website and from here they will build interactive features, engaging the public with meaningful ways of achieving the goals. |

Building on their climate justice work, 3 members of YouthQuake took part in the Our Fair Planet project, which culminated on January 28th with a plenary session with former President Mary Robinson. Here they discussed sustainability issues and how we can address them, so we can all live in a fairer and just world. You can check out Cassie's video below.

Discretionary Funding During 2020 we were delighted to receive support from our local councillors through the Discretionary funding scheme. This enabled us to provide a range of social, artistic and educational activities and supports to young people in County Meath aged 8 - 24. Over the last couple of years Discretionary funding has supported: - our LGBT youth groups to do a research piece and produce a booklet on the issues facing young LGBT people - provided First Aid training to our volunteers - supported young people to attend national events - supported our youth programmes - enabled us to deliver our Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing programmes to young people and schools |

Community Wellbeing Winners At the start of December, we were delighted with the news that we won first place in the Navan Municipal District's for Best Wellbeing Project. The project saw us deliver mental health packs to young people right across the county, during the first wave of the pandemic. The response was based on the 5 ways to wellbeing: Give, Connect, Be Active, Keep Learning and Take Notice, with an item or activity to help integrate wellbeing into a young person's life.
