CONGRATULATIONS!

Alleigh Jackson, the first recipient of the Hanse Mason Hamilton Jr. Scholarship. Ms Jackson attended our monthly meeting with her parents, boyfriend and Sergeant Major Bruce Cole from the Allen High School Marine Corps JROTC program, so that we could recognize her and present her with a "big check" in the amount of the scholarship. Ms Jackson will be attending Texas Tech this fall to study accounting.

DEADLINES EXTENDED: We have extended the submission dates for two of our scholarships until July 16th. Please pass the word.

The following is a brief description of each scholarship; what they are designated for and who is eligible. It took us a while to hammer out the details for each scholarship, so our time is limited to get them out to the public, schools, and promote them to deserving students. We need your help.

LCpl Jacob D. Hayes Scholarship:

NEW MEMBERS

Welcome aboard to our new members, Jefferie Thielbar and Michael McCord along with new associate members, Darin Collins, Jay Collins, and Jodie Carlson

Our members are the Marine Corps League. Whether they are Marines, Corpsmen, or Associate Members, they are the individuals that voluntarily attend the meetings, plan and run our events, sit on our various committees, represent us in the community, and more.

Like the Marine Corps, we are a few but proud, and we get more done with less. Our members have reason to be proud this year. We have been able to serve several Marines/corpsmen and their families, both financially and with other assistance, the detachment donated to the Gold Star Memorial Monument in Frisco, donated to the Homeless Veteran Services of Dallas, and so far have awarded one scholarship and hope to soon be awarding two more. Members of the detachment have also planned and ran one major event, plus attended at least a dozen others. We have also added about 15 new members so far this year. All of this and the detachment has no plans of slowing down in the second half of the year.

With each new Marine, Corpsman or Associate Members we add, we gain new connections, potential new leads to support veterans, a greater ability to reach those who need our support, new ideas and insight, plus just overall greater ability to do more. Join the Marine Corps League today! This is your Marine Corps League, Collin County. Help us make it into an even greater organization for veterans and the community.

On June 22nd we willing be hosting Teufel Hunden Night at Frisco Rail Yard from 6pm-10pm, to honor the anniversary of the Battle of Belleau Wood, where the Marines earned the nickname Devil Dogs. There will be food, drinks, live music, prizes, vendors, other veteran organizations, war stories, and salty language for sure.

We are also currently auctioning off three amazing Battle of Belleau 100 Year Anniversary coins seen below, on our Facebook Page. The Auction will last through June 26th, the day the battle ended. We will have a few of these coins at the event, but we only have one of the all gold version and the action is the only way you can get it. The actions is also the only way to get all three coins, or even ensure you get a coin. The current highest bid is $200 for the three. You must bid on the original Facebook post if you want to enter. 246TH MARINE CORPS BIRTHDAY BALL

We are honored to be bringing back the Marine Corps Birthday Ball this year after having to cancel last year. As always our Ball will be open to the public, we love being able to share this unique tradition of military ceremony, history, goof food, drink, music, dancing and more. Best of all the event supports local veterans and veteran causes.

Tickets this year will be $120 and will go on sale July 4th. We are currently accepting sponsors. Find more information in sponsorships and links below.

We look forward to being able to share this Marine Corps tradition again after having to cancel last year.  Again we are inviting the local community to join us for this elegant evening of rich military history, tradition, and ceremony.

The Marine Corps Birthday Ball is our biggest event of the year and serves the purpose of carrying on history and tradition. The Ball also serves as a major fundraising event for the Collin County Marine Corps League.  Funds raised through this event assist us in our mission of supporting local Marines, FMF Corpsmen, and their families.  It also allows us to support other veteran initiatives that are in line with our mission.  For far this year the Marine Corps League of Collin County has provided financial assistance to several Marines, supported the Homeless Veterans Services of Dallas, donated to erecting the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument in Frisco, and awarded three $1500 scholarships. Funds raised by the detachment also helped support our Toys For Tots campaign, that provided a Christmas to over 21,000 children in Collin County this past season during the pandemic.

The detachment plans to open regular ticket sales on July 4th. We are currently seeking sponsors.  For more information about the Marine Corps League, the Marine Corps Birthday Ball or sponsoring this unique event and supporting Marines, FMF Corpsmen, their families plus other veteran initiatives please contact Noe DeLeon. Phone: (214) 207-9093 email: Noe@NoeDeLeon.com or Nathan Hanson. Phone 940-390-7992  email: Admin@CollinMCL.org

The members of the Marine Corps League, LCpl Jacob D. Hayes Detachment hope to enjoy your presence on November 13th at the Hilton at Granite Park.  We look forward to sharing this sacred Marine Corps tradition with our community once again.  Thank you for your time and support of the Marine Corps League, LCpl Jacob D. New Members

Marines and FMF Corpsmen, we would like to invite all who live in Collin County to join. As is usually true with the Marine Corps, we are the few, but proud; and it should come as no surprise that we are able to accomplish more with less. We are an active detachment, and there are various ways to serve. The easiest way to join is to just attended a meeting, bring a copy of your DD214 (or proof of service), and $42 for annual dues. We will have you fill out the simple application before the meeting starts.

Associate Members

We cherish the input and contributions of our Associate Members. This are members of the community who were not Marines or FMF Corpsmen, but who are interested in our mission and serving along side of us to make a difference in the community we serve. There are very few things that Associate Members can not do in the Marine Corps League. Associate Members can serve in certain officer roles, on committees, have a voice in what we are doing. If you are interest in joining the ranks of the Marine Corps League as an Associate Member just attend a meeting or email us for more information: Admin@CollinMCL.org

Donations help us accomplish our mission of serving local Marines, FMF Corpsmen, and their families, plus other initiatives we support such as our scholarship program, Toys For Tots, supporting other veteran aid and more. Your donation is to the Marine Corps League is tax deductible, and greatly appreciated. Semper Fidelis!
