SLSC Highlights

The 2023 SkillsUSA California Skills and Leadership Conference was one for the books.  Alumni & Friends volunteers could be seen at every turn, working behind the scenes or directly with attendees to ensure the Conference was a success.

Alumni & Friends helped with the preparation of Registration Packets, Check In, T-shirt Distribution, the California Store, Judging, Contest & Conference Set Up & Tear Down,  oversaw the Courtesy Corps Volunteers, and assisted with the Closing Ceremonies at our inaugural location, the Toyota Arena.  Alumni & Friends volunteers got to wind down and see Ontario Reign take on the Henderson Silver Knights as a token of gratitude.

When asked what her favorite aspect of volunteering was, new Alumni & Friends member, BillieJo Lee, had the following to share: “My Favorite part of volunteering at this year’s SkillsUSA California State Conference was being part of such a supportive environment for the participants.  They came in prepared, open to feedback, and eager to learn.  I feel proud to know these participants are our future generation.”  BillieJo served as a Judge, helped with Awards Staging, and hung awards on Medalists.

It is so exciting to have such dedicated Alumni & Friends Volunteers year after year, and to see the number of volunteers continue to grow.  Look for Calls to Action in future editions of our Newsletter for more volunteer opportunities-We cannot do it without Volunteers like YOU!

Whether you can volunteer for a few hours or the entire conference, your time and support can make a real difference in students' lives. We're grateful for your dedication to our mission and commitment to building a brighter future for California's workforce.
