November brings cool weather and more cool art! |

Note from the Director November 2021 by Patricia Cream Many people ask, “How can I see and buy art from The Gallery ABQ?” There are currently three ways to buy our art. - The most obvious is to visit our storefront, at Hoffmantown Shopping Center, 8210 Menaul Blvd NE. Our hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- During the past two years the gallery has created an online store that features the art by our gallery members. It has taken time to get the word out about the online store, but we are starting to get more visits to our website and online sales. Here is a link to our online store: https://www.thegalleryabq.com/gallery-store .
- We have partnered with Tractor Brewing Westside to show artwork from our artists. Each quarter we are hanging art from six of the gallery artists on the walls of the brewery. This has been a fabulous experience working with this local New Mexico company to show our beautiful art on the westside of Albuquerque. We have had several sales, but we were told it was hard to find our contact information. To help with this concern, we recently made purchasing our art easier by creating QR Codes with the gallery contact information. Amelia Myer has created new artist Bio cards with the QR codes on each card. These will be available soon. The address for Tractor Brewing Westside is 5720 McMahon Blvd NW. The artists currently showing at Tractor are George H Hayes, Oil; Greg Lujan, Metal/Wood; David Marks, Mixed Media; Marlise Diels, Ceramic Masks; Linda Weiss, Fused Glass; and Patricia Cream, Oils.
Call for Artists: If you are a local artist looking for a Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery to show your art, please go to our website https://www.thegalleryabq.com to get more information about our gallery. The application is online. If you are interested, please send in your application and we can set up a jury date. |

In the Salon in November Mark Serafin Artistic Moves |
|
|
Mark Serafin (acrylic and resin) by Linda Weiss The Gallery ABQ November 2021 Salon Show “Artistic Moves” presents Mark Serafin (acrylic and resin) at a reception on November 5, 2021, from 5-8:00 pm. The show is a testament to Mark’s desire to grow and to make each piece better than the last one. Mark changed his life 14 years ago when he gave up his job at PNM (Public Service Company of New Mexico) to become a painter of houses, furniture, and canvas. Mark loves color and abstract art and gets his inspiration from the “cycle of life,” which includes seasons, earth, people, tastes, smells, music and time (everything!). Mark travels the world, studies other artists (such as Michelangelo and Picasso), and then puts his “heart and soul” into whatever he is trying to express. Mark uses his techniques interchangeably on walls, furniture, and canvas. His new show, “Artistic Moves,” will feature canvas versions of finishes that he uses on cabinets, doors, and the exteriors of homes. In addition to his canvas art, Mark will be showing an epoxy table at the reception. His use of the Zia symbol in his paintings is a tribute to his home in New Mexico. His hope is that his work will inspire unity among New Mexico residents, and that visitors will take home a piece of the New Mexico that he loves. Mark is humbled to be showing his work, along with other artists at The Gallery ABQ. Come meet Mark in person on November 5th at his “Artistic Moves” salon show. You will be fascinated by his ever-changing art! |

November Featured Artist: Marcella Boushelle |
|
|
November Featured Artist Marcella Boushelle (mixed media) by Linda Weiss Marcella Boushelle is the November Featured Artist at The Gallery ABQ reception on November 5, 2021, from 5-8:00 pm. Marcy is a Signature Member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society and has been accepted into the Western Federation Watercolor Society for four years in a row. Marcy has exhibited her work in juried and invitational shows for about 30 years. Among many others, the Radiology Associates of Albuquerque and the series “Better Call Saul,” have purchased her work. Marcy works in mixed media, which she defines as “anything you can mix with water.” She describes her art as abstract and impressionistic, and her work includes watercolor, gouache, and acrylic. She gets her ideas from models (people, flowers, almost anything) and turns those ideas into abstracts or collage. Marcy says that she loves the challenge of putting together puzzles of colors and design. She looks at the world around her and finds images that spark her artistic curiosity. Come meet Marcy on November 5 and learn more about watercolor and collage directly from the artist herself! |

ERRATA Last month we made an error in Marcos Orona Reyna's name, so we are featuring him again! New Gallery Artist Marcos Orona Reyna Marcos retired from the priesthood in 2019 and settled in Los Lunas, New Mexico. He currently works in acrylics and also creates retablos (religious icons) using locally sourced wood and pinon varnish.
