On the Gnome Road

May 2021 - Newsletter

Timbers and friends have been working hard behind-the-scenes to give a warm welcome to new members of the Gnome Road community. We are excited to begin announcing our publishing journeys with a talented group of authors and illustrators. Their work is sure to delight, inform and inspire readers of all ages. You can find several of these announcements on our Twitter feed already, as well as through ongoing information updates on the GRP website.

Building Our Village

We are happy to report that everyone who submitted a manuscript to Little Gnome during the first submissions window received a reply by the end of April. There were hundreds of submissions, so it was a mountainous task, and we appreciate your patience while we finished reading through the stories. Our first list of projects is almost complete, but we are still considering illustrators for a few of them. Please send in your portfolio if you would like to be considered for a current or future project - we are open to illustrator submissions at any time.

As new creatives join the GRP team, we are also focusing on village infrastructure. A "News" tab has been added to the website so that you can stay up-to-date with our creative happenings and get to know more about the team and our first list of books.

As a reminder, we will be open to middle grade and young adult novel submissions for the month of July. Our Little Gnome imprint will not open again for submissions until September. Due to the volume of manuscripts received during the first window, the next submissions window will be open for one month only. This will allow us to continue being responsive to all queries while also remaining open to unsolicited work. Have your queries ready and visit our submissions page prior to September for wishlist information as it will likely be updated before that time.
