Website What has our website crew been up to? We have been reviewing the site with the three click idea in mind. We have begun to look at updating the website so look out for amazing changes to the format and links. We have also been creating our RTLB Mahi section where we are hoping you will share your ideas and mahi, interventions, projects etc. so that as a workforce we can connect and inspire from all over Aotearoa. As a team we are in the process of designing the self review, peer review and submission forms that will support this section. We are really excited about the coming year and can’t wait to get all of your ideas on the site so that RTLB can access good practice models from all the different rohe. If you would like to contact us please go to the website https://www.nzrtlb.net.nz/contact. |

Te Whare Whakaruruhau: Trauma Informed Practice (TIP) Research Project Update
On February 13, our enthusiastic research team met in Auckland and spent significant time reflecting on the first phase of this innovative Trauma Informed Practice (TIP) research project, Te Whare Whakaruruhau. The research team is near completion of semi-structured interviews with key staff and community members (Tumuaki, Iwi, BoT member, SENCo, LSC, Wellbeing leader, RTLB Liaison) from ten kura involved in the project across the motu. The research team is interested in finding out how primary and secondary schools implement TIP, but also inquire into generic roles and find out what works and what doesn’t for key people (e.g. SENCo, LSC, RTLB). Each interview administered has set questions organised under key themes. From this first phase collation of data, our lead academic (Heidi) was able to share the key enablers and barriers for specific roles that have emerged within the TIP space, as well as general similarities and differences across roles, from these semi-structured interviews. There are interesting outcomes, which will subsequently be shared with research schools. Importantly, we hope it will add significant benefit to RTLBs working in schools and also to school staff! General, anonymised outcomes of this first phase will be shared on our RTLB PLN website-it will be a learning opportunity for all RTLBs! Second-phase planning of the research project also occurred in Auckland, which included the development of structured surveys, to be administered mainly by online methods with participating kura staff, ākonga and whānau. The research team spent significant time brainstorming key safety questions/considerations and identified Social Emotional Learning (SEL) areas to be included in the ākonga survey for different age groups: Junior Primary, Middle Primary, Upper Primary/Intermediate, Junior and Secondary Secondary. Heidi is now in the process of finalising survey structure and questions. This mahi will be peer-reviewed by the wider research team. From here, the staff, ākonga and whānau surveys will be administered in schools involved in the research project. Ngā mihi nui, Heidi, Fi, Tracey, Michelle W and Anthony |

The first PL CoP for 2024 will be online on the 5th April at 8:30 a.m. Details will be forwarded to PLs soon. |
