UIA World Congress of Architects CPH 2023

The UIA (UIA - International Union of Architects) Guidebook for the 2030 Agenda has now been launched and is available for everyone to read here: https://lnkd.in/dCME_H-5 The guidebook showcases visionary projects from around the world that are aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Living Places Copenhagen, developed in partnership with VELUX and Artelia, is featured in the publication as the only Danish project, the aim of which was to address the most pressing challenges facing the construction industry, particularly within residential construction, amidst the alarming challenges posed by the climate crisis. Therefore, the solutions the project proposes relate to several SDGs: - SDG  3 aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages - SDG 9 seeks to build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation - SDG 11 is about making cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable - SDG 12 aims to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns - SDG 13 is about taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.  - SDG 17 seeks to revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. Open call for publication contributions: … but, who are we building for? Building Diversity is calling for contributions for a new publication, exploring the relationships between the designer and contexts, contexts and the design. Who is considered in design? In the building standards? Who is involved in the processes? For whom is value created and on whose terms?  Contributors are invited to interpret the open call freely and new, unique perspectives are encouraged.   Suggested topics include: Climate adaptation for disability, Universal design / Inclusive design, Inclusive (design) processes and Towards inclusive standards. Diversity Bubbles Arkitektforeningen - The Beauty of Inclusion. 💫 Responding to the first out of ten lessons of UIA World Congress of Architects CPH 2023 the event of last evening has brought together amazing experienced and curious individuals with common ground of expanding opportunities in the build environment. The Copenhagen Lessons: 💥 • Dignity and agency for all people are fundamental in architecture, there is no beauty in exclusion • People at risk of being left behind must be accommodated first when we construct, plan, and develop the built environment. • Existing built structures must always be reused first. • No new development must erase green fields. • Natural ecosystems and food production must be sustained regardless of the built context. • No virgin mineral material must be used in construction when reuse is possible. • No waste must be produced or left behind in construction. • When sourcing materials for construction, local, renewable materials come first. • In everything we build, carbon capture must exceed carbon footprint. • When developing, planning, and constructing the built environment, every activity must positively impact water ecosystems and clean water supply. We are very happy to announce the publication of Design for Climate Adaptation. The volume is edited by Panel Chairs Billie Faircloth and Maibritt Pedersen Zari, and General Reporter Mette Ramsgaard Thomsen and Alternate General Reporter Martin Tamke. The book presents 56 papers investigating Design for Rethinking Resources through the lenses of: • Adaptation with Indigenous Knowledge • Adaptation through Frameworks and Feedback • Adaptation through Nature-Based Solutions • Adaptation through Architectural Technologies • Adaptation through Behaviour Change and Action The book is part of the six-volumes series of proceedings from the Science Track panels of the UIA World Congress of Architects 2023 CPH published by Springer Nature under their Sustainable Development Goals series. For at designe byrum til flere, skal vi indtænke forskellige sanser og kropsfunktioner i brugeroplevelsen allerede på tegnebrættet. Disse refleksioner fra start, vil være med til at gøre os klogere på, hvem vi anser som den potentielle bruger af byrummet. Refleksioner om mennesket kommer i flere udgaver er grundlæggende i arbejdet med #UniverseltDesign og forudsætter derfor, at vi indretter vores omgivelser med flere løsninger, så flere har mulighed for at deltage ligeværdigt #UniversalDesignIsForEveryBody I sommers mødte vi Reidesh Leal fra Universidad Nacional de Colombia som en af de 140 internationale studerende, der deltog i Next Generation City Action til UIA World Congress of Architects CPH 2023. I samarbejde med DTU - Technical University of Denmark blev studerende og unge professionelle verden over inviteret til at bringe deres viden og perspektiv i spil ved brug af universelt design til løsninger, der skal omfavne flere. Universelt design er nemlig også et begreb, som vi kan bruge på tværs af fagligheder lige fra arkitektur og design, til pædagogik, ledelse, kommunikation, politikudvikling, produktudvikling og meget andet; altså som et værktøj vi kan bruge på tværs, når vi globalt skal sætte rammerne for en mere bæredygtig fremtid for alle - både socialt, økonomisk og miljømæssigt #LeaveNoOneBehind
