VIRTUAL OPEN MIC - Summer Hiatus DCCN will resume open mics (live or virtual) in September. In the interim, we encourage members and followers to attend the Theatre Lab's Art of Cabaret showcase on June 4 and DCCN's Fringe Festival Showcase on July 16, 17, and 23rd. Also, please consider attending "Heroes of Cabaret: History of the Uniquely New York Art Form," a webinar presented by the New York Adventure Club. The event explores the history and evolution of cabaret, with a focus on the artform's early pioneers. The event is led by award-winning author Will Friedwald and includes a Q&A. DCCN Capital Fringe Festival Show July 16, 17, 23 at Georgetown Park Mall DC Cabaret Network's ensemble show "This is Cabaret," featuring Guy Bosworth, Heather Frank, Maureen Kerrigan, Dean Reichard, Lonny Smith, Tracy Simpson, and Christy Trapp will be at Stars and Bars (DSW). Judy Simmons is the director, Howard Breitbart is the music director and Cindy Hutchins is the associate director. The show is dedicated to the memory of George Fulginiti-Shakar. Mary Leaphart Fringe Show "Pretty Messy Love" July at Georgetown Park Mall Mary Leaphart's solo Capital Fringe show, "Pretty Messy Love: A journey to find true love in the real world" will be at Representation (formerly Washington Sports Club). The show is directed by Steve Cupo with musical direction by Jeff Hamlin. Art of Cabaret Showcase Saturday, June 4, 7:30 p.m. at the Theatre Lab Come to a showcase performance by The Theatre Lab's Art of Cabaret class. The showcase features mini-sets by seven emerging and established cabaret artists, including a member of the DC Cabaret Network. Songs range from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Dar Williams. The class is led by Marianne Glass Miller and Jeff Hamlin of the DC Cabaret Network Board. Support live music and learn about the Art of Cabaret! Tickets $5 cash at the door.
