ARMA INTERNATIONAL

   Jason C. Stearns,

President - ARMA International

To say that 2020 has been a year to remember would be an understatement. This past year has not only taught us how to pivot in an instant, but how to be resilient, patient, and how to look at everything we do through a new lens. Our chapters transitioned from traditional in-person meetings and events to virtual meetings and get-togethers - although members might not have been able to greet each other in person at these events, in the virtual environment they were able to expand the scope of their network far past their geographical region. Our members used the virtual environment to enhance their learning and knowledge through more online training and webinars.

And our Board of Directors offered members extensions on membership renewals due to COVID related job transitions, and transformed our annual conference to a virtual event that was able to offer even more learning and CEU opportunities than ever before!

As we close out 2020, I am grateful for the ARMA community and all that you do to enhance our profession. I look forward to the opportunities that 2021 brings for all of our ARMA members, ARMA International, and the organizations and communities we belong to.

I’m sending each of you my best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season and a spectacular new year.

Thanks to the 2020-Effect, our public records dragons grew three new heads: COVID-19, civil unrest, and future uncertainty, which has resulted in a whole new level of chaos. With little warning, government data sharing has become more important than ever, putting state and local Public Record Departments on the front lines.

We will be joined by Microsoft and the Denver Regional Transportation District on Tuesday, December 8 at 2 pm EST to provide insight into how you can transition to the next “age” – suiting you up with the knowledge to successfully battle these new dragons.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Revisiting pre-2020 dragons: Complexity, Legislation, Litigation

  • New dragons, new layers of chaos

  • How Denver RTD goes to battle

  • Becoming a superhero for your organization

  • Actionable tactics to conquer the dragons
