Fancy is as Fancy does, as they say.
As does our Zedonk, Fancy Pants.
If you have recently visited us, and wondered where Fancy Pants was, she has been on stall rest in the barn for close to a week. Last week, she injured her leg in her stall over night. Unfortunately, only Fancy Pants knows what she did, and she's not telling. She definitely pulled a tendon, that we know. This is an injury that will heal, and she will be good as new in a few more weeks. Until then, she will start out with shorter turn out times than usual, and based on how her recovery goes, she can spend more time outside as her leg heals. This is to ensure she doesn't do anything silly outside and delay the recovery. Good news is, we caught this injury very early and were able to treat it immediately! She has been cold hosed, and cold wrapped. This helps minimize the swelling. She has taken anti-inflammatory meds, to also help with swelling and any discomfort she may have been experiencing. And she has been spending more time in her stall, to minimize unnecessary physical exercises she may think she should do when she's outside. So far she's doing great! We will take healing one day at a time, and monitor Fancy very closely. She will continue having her leg wrapped up, this gives the leg more support and promotes healing.
Please send good thoughts to Fancy! And maybe ask her to behave herself, and give her a scratch, when you come visit her.
