a new book

Aaah! My third book, Portrait of Deception comes out this week!

It feels like I've hit a threshold with this twisty suspense novel. In some ways it reminds me of my working career.

My first full-time job was working at an American manufacturer in Juarez, Mexico. I planned and ordered materials for the production line, something I had to learn.

I built on that in my next job, working for the El Paso Chamber of Commerce to help grow businesses on both sides of the border. Then I worked in commercial real estate and helped businesses relocate to the region.

Somewhere along the way, by putting the work in, my confidence and abilities expanded. By the time I took a job as the Executive Director at the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce in California, I knew how to lead the organization.

That's what this book feels like. I'm comfortable with writing, producing, and marketing a novel. I think it's my best book yet. I hope you enjoy it. To order Portrait of Deception, click here.

Happy Travels: Chile

I dug deep into the vault for this photo. This was taken in 1997 while flying over Chile. I'd been married just over a year, and we used all our vacation days and almost all our money on travel. Now, after a couple of decades of raising a child, we get to "adult" travel again. I'm looking forward to it (and to more travel with the kid).

Are you going anyplace exciting this year? I'd love to hear about it.
