Group Show & Arts Walk

Hi Everyone,

This month I installed some of my work and that of fellow Redeemer alumni in a group show called enCompass. It was a privilege to see and carefully handle these pieces. I am happy that two of my oil paintings were selected: Prehistoric Columns in Southern France and Florentine Renaissance Treasures.

September 6 - November 4
Reception on Oct 1, 3:30pm

Redeemer Art Gallery
777 Garner Rd E
Ancaster ON

Here is how the press release describes it:

Redeemer University’s 40th year provides an opportune moment to celebrate artists who began their journeys here. These 20 artists, selected from creative alumni across the decades, show particular depth and force of their creative work. The powerful drawings and paintings are joined by video, assemblage, textile, ceramics, and a collaboration with honey bees.

The show’s title, enCompass, captures several ideas central to this show. The idea of encompassing something is to get the measure of something vast and diverse. The related image of the circle suggests “coming full circle” - returning to roots, but changed by the journey. Finally, the word “compass” alludes to the multiple directions these artistic alumni have taken, charting their courses in life, but bringing their diverse findings back to their alma mater.
