A clinical solution for non-toxic 3D-printed photon blocks in external beam radiation therapy.
This Stanford manuscript discusses an innovative approach to creating patient-specific photon shielding blocks using 3D printing. The study aims to replace traditional, labor intensive Cerrobend photon blocks used in radiation therapy. Block perimeter information is extracted with the Eclipse Scripting API. Dosimetric evaluations confirm that the 3D-printed blocks matched the TPS within 2% showing promise for clinical adoption. Learn more HERE!
