WELCOME

The last month has brought us some of the hottest weather we can remember, spectacular thunderstorms and some fantastic new projects to work on. The start of the school holidays means that many of our readers are getting ready for a holiday in a British Log Cabin somewhere in the UK, and those lodge owners are gearing up for what is turning into a bumper year for the UK staycation market for obvious reasons.

If you're off your holidays, in the UK or overseas, enjoy your break. Remember, there's lots of additional reading on our blog about all things log cabin if you're still dreaming of your own project!

We have some very impressive new cabins being delivered to clients as I write that we look forward to showing you over the coming weeks and lots more in the pipeline for what should be a busy few months for the team.

These stunning saddle notch log ends were a big hit on Instagram earlier in the month and are being erected on the client's site as we speak. We'll bring you more updates as the build progresses.

NEWS

  • Our log building course is just around the corner and is fully subscribed. The aim is to have a small cabin built by the end of it so we shall bring you updates throughout. Follow us on Instagram for photos. We're already seeing a lot of interest for next year's course, details of which will be published on our website in due course. If you're interested in signing up, please do drop us a line on info@britishlogcabins.com
  • We are working on a new brochure that will be viewable online or downloadable from our website and should be available in the next fortnight. The brochure will consolidate a lot of the information on our website into a single, easy to read document with everything from our main construction techniques to the different roofing options.
  • If there is ever anything you'd like to see or read about on our website, please do drop us a line with your thoughts and ideas - we'd love to hear from you: info@britishlogcabins.com

MEET THE TEAM
Continuing our series and introducing you to our team, this month we meet Zeph, the second of our two Team Leaders.

Name: Travis Bland

Job title: Trainee log Builder

How did you get into log building?

As a young lad I spent most of my spare time in the outdoors building shelters in the woods and helping my Grandad with woodwork projects at weekends. Seeing the end results and the smiles it put on people's faces made me realise the rewards that come from being practical and creative with your hands.

What do you enjoy most about log building?

I love the fact that in log building no day or build is the same as the last. There's always new challenges and skills to be learnt in this game which definitely keeps me hungry for more!

Which has been your most memorable build to date and why?

Definitely the one I'm currently working on now. Being part of the process and seeing it grow week by week has been great. I can't wait to walk along the log balcony and finally admire the view when we rebuild it on site.

Tell us something about yourself

I really enjoy rock climbing in my spare time and most outdoor sports that give me a thrill or keep me active.

That's all for this month.

Do follow us on Instagram and Facebook for regular project updates and inspiration. And if you're planning (or still just dreaming of) your own log cabin project, be sure to check out our blog articles for some really useful, practical information on how to get started.
