Meet Selma's Youngest Protester Earlier in the year, we had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with Joanne Bland, her story is a testament to the importance of determination and persistence in the civil rights movement. As the youngest civil rights activist marching with Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, 1965 she was fighting prejudice, racism and violence on all sides. In the video she talks about what it was like to be a black freedom fighter at the age of 14. |
