Dear Second Presbyterian Church Community,
We hope this update finds you healthy and in good spirits. As we've mentioned, it is now more important than ever that we stay connected, so we want to make sure you receive regular updates on the happenings at Second Presbyterian Church.
Combined Worship Service
We hope you joined our combined online worship service on Sunday with First Presbyterian Church and Countryside Trinity Church. This upcoming Sunday, April 5, 2020, be sure to join us again online for Palm Sunday Worship. It is exciting to bring three of the Presbyterian congregations of Saginaw together during this time.

Liturgy of the Palms: Matthew 21:1–11, Psalm 118:1–2, 19–29.
Liturgy of the Passion: Isaiah 50:4–9a, Psalm 31:9–16, Philippians 2:5–11, Matthew 26:14-27:66 or Matthew 27:11–54.
Interim Pastor Search
The Interim Search Committee is pleased to announce they are negotiating with a candidate and hope to have an Interim Pastor in place in the not-too-distant future. A start date has not yet been established. The committee is excited for our congregation as we head into the next phase of our pastoral transition.
Non-Worship Activities
All non-worship activities of the church have been cancelled or postponed. At this time the Lenten Study, group meetings, Youth Group, bazaar, or committee meetings are postponed. Laurel Taipale’s retirement luncheon at Apple Mountain, with the choirs and instrumentalists, has been cancelled until further notice.
Tithes and Gifts
We have received communications from folks with their concerns about continuing to support the church with their tithes and offerings. Even during our temporary closure, this can be accomplished by mailing a check directly to the church or even setting up online bill pay. Thank you for your continued support.
Easter Lilies
We have ordered the Easter lilies from Boehler's Greenhouse. They will be used for decoration at First Presbyterian Church on Easter Sunday. Look for details in the next updates regarding when the lilies will be available for pick up at Second Presbyterian Church.
Mission News
The Mission Committee would like to thank all the congregation for their support of the Hope and Care Totes. This year we collected and delivered 27 VERY FULL Hope and Care Totes to the Saginaw Rescue Mission.
The mission for March was the Baby Pantry. We will still accept items for this mission after the church is open. We have many clothes items, but could use diapers, (newborn, sizes 1 & 2), wipes, bathing products, etc.
Our April Mission Focus will be the collection of non-perishable items for the Food Pantry at First Presbyterian Church. We'll be collecting money and/or food as soon as we are able. The food pantry will need Everything as soon as their doors open again.

Office Hours
Due to the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order the office will not be staffed during normal business hours. If you need to contact the church for any reason, please call the office at (989) 792-1023 and leave a message. Voicemail and postal mail will be checked throughout the week.
If you know of someone in our church community who does not have internet access please share the latest in this mailing with them. Even in the midst of this ever-evolving situation, this is our chance to be the people of God for each other and the world. We hope that our church community will utilize different platforms to communicate and care for each other: email, text, Skype, telephone calls, written cards or notes, but most of all prayer. Just because our regular worship has been put on hold doesn’t mean we stop worshipping our Lord by serving one another. We are in this together. We look forward to worshipping with you, from a distance, on Sunday.
Faithfully,
The Session
