Like rocks on the beach, a myriad of things read time: 4mins

I hope this email finds you the kind of way you might have stumbled upon my rocks on the beach, a playful and fleeting pile of flowers drawn with chalk.

Welcome back, Since my last edition, I feel like I've properly landed in the UK now although I'm still making steps towards stability. Let's start with some lovely highlights of the past few weeks.

I travelled to Norwich to display my painting 'Nature Night Woman' at the Assembly House Summer Open:

It was a varied show with lots of different mediums and styles. This painting is still for sale, so please get in touch for further details. I also intend to start sharing more available works here and on my website in the following months.

Whilst I was in Norwich, I also visited the Sainsbury Centre. I had a specific interest in their new approach with access to the art, this meant being able to touch and hug this Henry Moore sculpture 'Mother and Child'. It was a lovely moment to be able to experience this artwork in this way although I feel there is still a long way to go, so a bit of critique now:

Unfortunately the information about touching this exhibit was not displayed publicly, I had to ask about it and was told it was a trial to see how people react. So I wonder how will they get realistic research if visitors aren't made aware? The piece was also the only one we are able to interact with in this way, despite other works being displayed in the same way. I think this needed clearer signalling and invitations for visitors to properly benefit. This is all good research for my own exhibitions though, I would really like to share more interactive work in the future as it did sadden me that I had the need for 'please do not touch' signs on my ceramics at my Solo Show due to their fragility.

Another bit of news is that I've secured myself a shared studio space! I'll be moving in today to my nice corner spot by a window which will help me continue my painting practice in a more concentrated way. It is difficult to paint where I am living right now, so I think this will open up new possibilities and ideas for me. I've decided not to rush in to an exhibition and keep working with the theme of Home and reflecting on my travels and all of the interesting ideas and skills that I picked up on the way.

This Sunday I'll have a stall at the Folk House Craft and Flea, so please stop by if you're in town. It's on Park Street and open 11-4. All the info you need is on the poster below, (please refer to this and not the info on their website as there are some confusing discrepancies with the date!)

A couple of local to me Creative Recommendations this month:

  • UNA - I have been supporting dear friend and fellow creative Ana Clark in starting a creative circle for those based in and around Bristol. It has so far been a really interesting and valuable experience for connection and sharing of advice. We look forward to seeing how this project develops and you still have some time to sign up!

  • Bristol Jewellery Quarter, An exciting pop-up at Centrespace for 3 days only, with Musee Roo and friends - lots of amazing, creative jewellers. Grab tickets here, I'll see you there on opening night!

I'll leave you with this swirl of rocks I made on the beach in Norfolk, I hope it offers a symbol of creativity and peace with the ebbs and flows of life.

If you'd like to show some support, you can use ko-fi. Ko-fi is a platform where you can donate the price of a coffee to support creators. You can give a one-off or a monthly donation. Anything is hugely appreciated and helps me to continue developing my creative practice!
