#BulbsforBees Challenge Members of our Lightbulb Club had a great time planting special bulb pollinators as part of Gaisce - The President's Award BulbsForBees challenge. By doing this, they are making sure the bees will have plenty to eat next year. 🌱🐝 With our wild Irish bee population in decline, this is one thing we can all do to be part of a positive change. We're looking forward to planting more, as well as getting a commemorative certificate! |

Youth Club News Work is well underway to get our youth clubs back up and running. Our dedicated volunteers are reaching out to their young members and also inviting new members to join up. We are assisting them in sourcing suitable premises to hold their youth club nights as unfortunately some venues are unavailable due to changes following restrictions. If you can help or would like to volunteer, please contact Lisa on 087-0906062 |

Young Carers new group starting Youth Work Ireland Meath is busy promoting their latest service for Young Carers. But it seems that the young carers are very hard to identify and recognise, especially as some of the young carers do not identify as a carer. So, what is a young carer? According to Family Carers Ireland, a young carer is any young person, under the age of 18 years of age, who is affected by or has to look after a family member with a serious illness, disability, mental health issue or addiction. Young carers often do more chores than other children would. On top of providing emotional support to the person they are caring for, they may also have to learn how to nurse them or look after their personal needs like bathing and dressing. It can be hard work being a young carer. |

Time to say Farewell So this month we thank and say goodbye to another wonderful student, Ciara, who has worked with us so brilliantly over the summer months. We wish Ciara all the best in her future studies. Pictured here Ciara is confirming that Youth Work Ireland Meath has signed up to Healthy Ireland's Not Around Us campaign. Our young people say: #nosmokingorvapingaroundus. |

Budget 2022 Proper investment in our youth is vital. We are asking the Government to support youth services and young people in the upcoming budget. Add your voice and call on the Government to invest in young people and youth work. |

- Arising from the pandemic, youth organisations have taken a big financial hit because fundraising campaigns by local groups and clubs and at national level had to be cancelled.
- The number of clubs and groups operating in the last year has halved and the numbers of volunteers able to contribute is a third of pre-covid levels. This means that thousands of young people don’t have access to youth services as organisations don’t have the volunteers or resources to run activities and services.
