Hope you had a happy 4th of July!

Celebrations of Independence Day were likely quite different this year for a lot of us and probably sparked some memories of past gatherings. We were reminiscing about the fun pool parties/fireworks show we enjoyed in our little KS cut-de-sac when the boys were little. They were so enamored with all the pyrotechnic wonders and yummy treats that encircled our celebrations with friends and neighbors. Good times!

This year was a slower and quieter time for us. We did much of the same things, but on a smaller scale...which gave it a unique, "special" flavor. Katie still swam with us and was the center of attention...some things never change!

July - - -  31 Days of Courage

We're a third of the way into July already. I love the tenacity of the verses this month. When the pandemic feels oppressive, I'm encouraged again by one of the simple phrases like "take heart" or "be strong."

With so much of our "usual" in limbo, that phrase "wait for the Lord" seems more poignant, too, doesn't it?

How is your waiting game? patience? How are you tending your soul through disappointments and discouraging news? I think there's a reason why these phrases are repeated so much. We need to soak them up over and over again to keep moving forward in courageous grace!

Since we finished the first round of our ABCs of the Bible series in the ABC Bible Quilt journal. I've playing around with a couple "summary" pages, emphasizing some of the strong themes from A to Z on a ABC patchwork template.

You could do a personal page for you or get your kiddos involved to seek out verses re: characteristics you're striving for in your family.

Or maybe do one on characters in the Bible (from Adam to Zaccheus) or one on the Attributes of God?

What other ideas do you have for exploring different themes throughout the Bible?

PS - If your church is offering online services, this is a great time to practice Bible Quilting sermon notes! I often incorporate seasonal colors on my #sermonnotes pages because it helps tie in the "flavor" of the current holiday or family event.
