Autumn Festival harvest basket donations at Trinity Gardens School

The ASEA committee will be seeking new members in 2024. Our children are graduating through the years, and most of the committee will be moving on from primary school soon. In order to maintain the valuable services that ASEA provides for our community, we need to build a committee that represents a range of childrens' ages and, ideally, have all three stream schools represented as well.

We are entirely volunteer run and there are lots of ways to help out, even if you can't commit to meetings. Please keep an eye out for an invitation to join our committee later this year and come along to find out how you can make a contribution to Steiner stream education in South Australia.

Parnati blessings from Abbi and Shani

In the mid 2000s ASEA was the driving force that brought streamed Steiner education to South Australian public schools, with the first Stream starting in 2005 at Trinity Gardens School. Our primary focus was, and still is, to ensure affordable and authentic Steiner education within Steiner Stream schools in the greater Adelaide area.

These streams run within public schools, and so don’t attract the same fees as private schools, but there are still costs which come with authentic Steiner education experiences. These might be for music lessons, instrument hire, camps or excursions, or even special materials. It’s been almost 20yrs since the first Steiner Stream school in South Australia opened and we still have a commitment to helping maintain this affordability. One of the ways we do this is by providing bursaries to families in need. These are funded by ASEA membership fees. When you become a member of ASEA Steiner Stream children benefit.

Lead by example and join ASEA today. Play a part in maintaining a child’s education, and their connection to their class and school community. Visit our website to learn more about ASEA’s initiatives. ASEA members are parents, grandparents, teachers, school leadership, and our greater community. Thank you for your commitment to affordable and authentic Steiner Education in South Australia.

Olivia is our new Reception teacher and has enjoyed establishing the rhythms and routines with her keen group of young people. Class One is enjoying their visit to  Numerica and learning the numbers while Class Two have delved deeply into Aesop's Fables. Class 3 / 4  are enjoying stories about Grammar while in Class 5 our new teacher Grant has led lively stories of Ancient India as well as Fractions. Ancient Rome and now Business Maths are the latest areas that Class Six have delved into.

With anticipation and excitement we are all looking forward to the Easter break and then  finishing the term with our Autumn Festival and journeys to the Botanic Gardens. Oh - and Sports Day as well!!

Autumn Festival

The Class 7 Mandala:

"This year Class 7 took three weeks to make the mandala representing the story of St Michael and the dragon. The mandala depicts a dragon breathing out a burst of flames that then transforms into autumn leaves. The materials we used for the mandala are all natural and found on our school grounds. We collected materials such as leaves, stones, gravel, and different kinds of foliage and bamboo. Since we found and collected all the materials we put no money into this project. We laid down a base of compost for a dark background. We cut out the dragon’s scales from the dried parts of bamboo. To make part of the shield we smashed some rocks to create flat slates. We might have done our mandala differently to other classes, but it was still a great experience. We got to learn something new about ourselves. our teachers and the world around us.”

-Indy, Evie-Mae, Bella and Kyra

I am very proud of the Class 7 children and the creation of their mandala. It was a great class effort! Initially they were uncertain when I presented the idea of creating a mandala from plant material found on school grounds. (Possible horticultural influence from me!) They did not think they would find many colours in nature, but once they went investigating and made observations, they came back with the wonderful collection of materials

you see represented in the mandala. The design was a combination of concept drawings from group work, followed by a small group of children, led by Indy, completing the final design. The children showed co-operation, collaboration and determination in their beautiful masterpiece!
