SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE WORKSHOP MAY 2022 On May 14th from 10-11:30 AM at Lick-Wilmerding High School, there will be a sustainable architecture workshop! Come and learn from East Bay architect Devi Dutta and how she practically integrates sustainability into her designs. There will then be a design challenge where participants can implement techniques to address environmental concerns into planning a school. No experience is required and volunteer and public purpose hours can be provided. Join us to learn the basics on how to combine sustainability and architecture! | | |

CLIMATE ACTIVIST DIES AFTER SETTING HIMSELF ON FIRE AT SUPREME COURT In an effort to bring attention to, and express the urgency of the climate crisis, Wynn Bruce, a climate activist and buddhist set himself on fire in front of the Supreme Court on Friday. The conservative-majoirty court was in the process of debating a case that would weaken the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to mitigate pollution, after conservatives were upset at the agency’s authority around reducing carbon emissions. His political statement was described as not a suicide but “...a deeply fearless act of compassion to bring attention to climate crisis.” Read more about the path to Bruce’s self-immolation and the growing number of people who are fed up with politicians ignoring the climate crisis. | | |

US REPORT FINDS SHARP UPTICKS IN AIR QUALITY, ESPECIALLY IN CALIFORNIA Over the past 23 years, air pollution levels have been increasing, but in 2022, we have seen a massive uptick in the levels, including in the Bay Area and other major cities in California.
