The German translation has just been published by PalmArtPress (Berlin). |

After having completed the screenplay of “Zoe The Afrikaner” as a feature film, with my colleague Dr. Ernest Mathijs at UBC we have now decided to transform it into a 4-hour Tv mini-series. “A tale of great human connection in the Namibian wilderness." Watch the book trailer of The Afrikaner

(Audio)book presentation of The Afrikaner organized by the Dante Soicety of Ottawa. Arianna was joined by Dr. Stefano Gulmanelli, who worked along with her in post-apartheid South Africa & teaches Sociology of Identity & Sociology of Migration at the University of British Columbia. The conversation touched upon what Arianna & Stefano learned from that experience, how Arianna was inspired to write Zoe's story, intercultural relations, the weight of history, science & magic seen through the eyes of an Italian writer & an Italian scholar.

Here are excerpts from the latest batch: "It certainly held my interest and, in that respect, it works as any good work of art ought to. Keep the reader wanting to turn the page has been with us from The Arabian Nights to Margaret Atwood […] I found Kurt to be the most interesting, most authentic character. His life alone would have made for an interesting novel. He carries within him the curse of apartheid as well as its wounds.” (Prof. Nigel Thomas, Laval University) "The book is a delight to read. Complex and very pressing contemporary issues, of concern not just in South Africa but in far wider global settings, are raised in ways insisting on intelligent reading and reflection and all interwoven within a dynamic plot in a beautifully written narrative." (Iain Edwards, South African historian) "The Afrikaner is an authentic journey across bold landscapes where time, the meaning of life, and the fragile yet complex nature of the human spirit capture the reader’s inner-self. Stories of love, conflict and discovery are inextricably woven together like..." (Andrei Rizea, Vancouver) |
