Greeting fellow Georgians
The festive season, Christmas and the closure of 2020 is upon us. What a year this has been for every Georgian around the world, both young and old. But we have made it to this point and the next step awaits us.
Many of the Old Georgian Union events and activities had to be cancelled as the pandemic took hold. We did manage to have a wonderful gathering at the Athletics Day in the early part of the year with a great turn out. Some of the other school events through the year saw a few OGs showing their support. Thank you to those that where able to support amidst the pandemic protocols. I know the class of 2020 appreciate your encouragement and interest.
We can truly be grateful for all that St George’s has done over the years, in our own lives and in the lives of so many fellow Georgians. Many of these seeds over the years have changed lives around the world and in South Africa and continue to do so.
The seeds planted in our time at the school helped to guide us on the journey of life.
Over the years many seeds we planted during our different times at the school that have helped to grow and shape the young Georgians as the years pass.
In this issue we pull out from the archives some photos of the school play in 1993 (Hack Back) and share some memories from the recently passed Mike (Johnny) Downes time at St Georg’s in 1946/47.
Your stories, memories, comments and suggestions are always very welcomed, so please feel free to get in contact.
Have a blessed season of giving and may 2021 be a safe and prosperous one for all Georgians and their families.
