Hello lovelies, Happy Plastic-Free July! Do you feel that unfortunate twinge of guilt mixed with inaction while tossing out your Amazon packaging or unloading your groceries? No need for those nasty feelings in your life. We've got solutions for you friends! Here on the land, life and death dance as seasons change. Misty fog envelopes the farm, rain pounds heavily out the window (making us sleep in a lot), the Whistling School Boy bird shares his song for all to hear, and then out of no where, the sun bursts through in brilliant, show-stopping intervals. While the basil, silverbeet and spinach literally rot black with the rain, the papayas, passion fruits, and lemon trees are flowering and fruiting with unbridled vigor! Kunal is pouring all his waking hours into ALT EFF. We feel the bigness of this project in our bones. Laura is using the extra indoor time to dive into herbalism courses and looks forward to offering you her herbal healing body oils in the future. In this 3rd newsletter, we are covering practical tips for zero-waste living, including a plastic-audit-exercise to do with your family/household. And, in case you missed it last month, we're relinking these resources on anti-racism, because Black Lives Matter is not a trend, it's a sustained culture shift! With all the hope of our budding grapefruits, Laura and Kunal Khanna ps. The August workshop schedule is live! Find it here. |

Natural vinegars are silver-bullets in a plastic-free household. We're well stocked up with kombucha vinegar these days. It is a powerful yet gentle cleanser. We love it most as hair rinse, laundry detergent, toilet bowl cleaner & homemade ketchup! Not brewing booch? Make scrap vinegar from pears and apples with our friends' easy lesson.

Endless production of new fashion - from materials, to chemical dyes, to shipping, to labor controversies, to wastage - is a huge pollutant. Swapping clothes instead of buying new ones, gives us the same rush of excitement and satisfaction. Whole lot easier on the wallet too! Laura's been hosting swaps for years. Why not try one within your Covid crew this Plastic Free July?

Ah you read all the way through :) As a thank you, we are introducing you to our favorite weekend radio program. Listening to Babylon Burning (from Melbourne's PBS 106.7 FM) reminds us of years of happy Sunday mornings in Melbourne, sipping first-class lattes and washing up after big Saturday night parties. We still listen on the weekends and luxuriate in those Aussie vibes! Peace, love and vegetables, friends! We hope you send this around to other earthly-minded people so they can sign up to receive hot-off-the-press practical knowledge each month. |
