A QUICK READ FOR ALL THINGS DESIGN

INTRODUCING: THE SUNOL HOMESTEAD

ISSUE. 3

Friends & family of Ridgecrest Designs know all about our first custom home project, the Pleasanton Dream Home. After seeing the craftsmanship and attention to detail given to the Pleasanton house, a family of seven who had just purchased acreage in the hills of Sunol, California, contacted us to make their dream home come to life. We're proud to present to you all: the Sunol Homestead. After 3 years of designing and building - it's done! And it's a beauty.

This family already had Craftsman style architectural plans drawn up for the exterior of the house. We encouraged them to lean into this timeless look and carry it throughout the interior as well, using stain-grade interior trim with details that would instantly define the style. Though familiar with the Craftsman look, the team at Ridgecrest had never designed a true Craftsman interior before. Hours of research were required to make sure we were designing historically accurate details that would make the house feel like it had heart and soul.

Knowing that this dwelling would be home to five children and is located in a rural, agricultural area, the homeowners wanted to make sure form followed function, and that the finishes & designs would be durable enough to withstand environmental conditions and wear & tear. For this reason, we went more modern in the bathrooms to ensure they'd be as functional as possible.

The foyer, which boasts an intricate grand staircase and is clad in floor to ceiling wainscoting, sets the tone for the exceptional craftsmanship and design of the rest of the house. See all the photos at our website, linked here:
