  • Includes latest firmware version 0445

  • Sound firmware version 0303 (DULLHB only): introducing support for steam sounds

Highlights of the update

(Release Notes)

1. 1024 speed steps

- Speed accuracy with more than 1000 speed steps for finer, smoother motor control

2. 15 speed step speed table

- More finer tuning and accurate speeds

3. Decimal speeds

- Speeds up to 2 decimal places for extreme accuracy

4. High frequency PWM operation

Sound related

11. Steam sounds

- See below to learn how to enable steam functionality

12. Auto-sync chuff

- With a speed table set up, measure and enter the driver wheel diameter in loco settings, and chuffs will auto sync to speed

13. Volume control

14. Mute / unmute

Notable bug fixes

  • No more sound glitches when throttling up/down (applies only to sound upgradeable modules)

Limitations; upcoming features

  • Currently only 2 cylinders are supported; support for upto 4 cylinders in a future update

  • Volume and muting not available for non-sound upgradeable hardware

  • For those who are currently using our APIs, upgrading to the latest version may be a breaking change. Please contact us if you encounter any issues after the upgrade.

  • Consisting requires that all locos in consist be on the same firmware version. Consisting may not work as expected if different firmware version locos are consisted.

Known issues

  • Sometimes switching between speed profiles may leave the throttle slider and speedometer on the dashboard at some speed step / speed greater than 0 without loco actually moving. To fix, simply reboot the loco.

Instructions to enable steam functionality

  1. Upgrade firmware to latest [0445 (0303)]

  2. Download steam sounds. Goto Resources and download 'Generic Steam 01' sounds found under the Sounds section and install them to the microSD using the instructions provided on the page. After unzipping, you will notice the following files:

0000.wav - blank

0001.wav - idle steam

0002.wav - blank

0003.wav - whistle

horn.txt - whistle params (see Quick Sound Editing Guide for more info)

0004.wav - bell

0011.wav - 4 chuffs [later customizable up to 8 chuffs]

chuf.txt - contains begin and ends of chuffs

Note: Steam sound editing guide to customize your own steam sounds will be available soon.

Did you know?

Running loco in reverse may yield a different speed curve. To create a speed table for 'reverse', create a new speed profile. Name it such that you know that it's for reverse e.g. if the track voltage is 16.0V, the forward profile can be named as 16.0V and the reverse can be named as 16.1V. Finally, set the loco in reverse on the dashboard before taking readings for your speed table.
