Meal Deals and Food Offers 

There's a new Sri Lankan dinner starting this week: "A Taste of Ceylon" which offers a range of classic Sri Lankan dishes from around the island. You can find it at The Blue Lotus restaurant at the Galadari. Promising a "melting pot of local authentic favourites", it is launching this Thursday 6 October and will be available weekly from Thursday to Sunday, from 7.00pm to 11.00pm.

Garton's Ark offer dinner cruises with international buffets. This weekend they'll be cruising on Friday and Sunday. Boarding is from 7.00pm, finish at 11.00pm and this includes a two cruise. Prices are Rs4,700 per person.

There's a couple of combo offers from Mr Burger - and no, not only burgers! You can pick two cheesy meaty beefs, two cheesy meaty chickens or one of each for Rs3,400; or you can choose any two from cordon bleu burger, a beef sub and a butter chicken sub, for Rs2,500. They offer dine in or takeaway and the offer is valid until 16 October.

This Sunday is a Poya Day, so Thali's will be offering their usual Poya Day Vegetarian Lunch Buffet. It has a wide range of North and South Indian items and is available from 11.00am to 3.00pm.

Drinks Deals

Disques Nightclub have a happy hour type of deal, "Level Up Friday". It's on - yes, you guessed it - Fridays and is a buy two, get one free deal. Or, get a level-up free on your third drink.

There's plenty of free drinks for ladies at the Sugar spots. Sugar Beach offers free drinks for ladies on Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm, while Sugar Bistro has free drinks for ladies on Fridays from 8pm to 10pm. Sounds sweet to us!

There's another Oktoberfest, this one arranged by TMC The Management Club. It's just one night, at California Grill at the Galadari and will be this Friday 7 October at 6.30pm with the classic Oktoberfest cuisine, a German Costume contest, a raffle draw and live music. Prost!

And later at the end of the Month, The Hilton Colombo will host their Oktoberfest from 27 October to 05 November. More details to be announced shortly.

Live Music and DJs

On Friday, Bloc Party has five performers with the band Journey (no, sorry, not the Journey who did "Don't Stop Believing"). They'll be at Independence Arcade from 7.00pm.

On Saturday, Rocktober finally arrives and with it the gig that many have been waiting for: "Rocktober Sessions volume 1" sees local metal legends Stigmata playing at Darley Road, with support by Sevexth, Ashen Sandaru and Sanjeev Niles.

Also on Saturday, it's Manthra Night at Colombar, six singers performing with the band Midlane, starting from 7.00pm.

Looking into next week and next Saturday 15th october, there's "Limited Edition" with Raini, Nalin, Senaka, Amal and Chitral with The Marians live at Independence Arcade.

This Friday, "Epic Groove" at Zouk brings together three guest DJs, Jayy Vibes, Ultra and Nishan Lee with three resident DJs, Capital C, Ludispex and Jadon Fonka for what does indeed sound like an epic groove night.

Nearby at Cinnamon Lakeside, things could kick off as over 20 DJs will be taking turns on the turntables during the evening. Legendary DJs from the past will be there, as well as some of the leading DJs of today.

Saturday night will be a night that many have waited for as seven DJs will be on at "Mystery Land" at the Lotus Tower.

Next week, it's "Void" on Friday with DJs Subandrio, Jayy Vibes and seven more at Zouk.

Next Saturday 15th October you've got choices to make; either "Inc Code" at Virticle with A-Jay, A'Jerome, Yarrick, Mark, Josh B2B Yomal and Hasith Lak; or: "Digital Karma" at Karma Beach with Jayy Vibes, Ultra, Echo Daft, Sheran, Seo, Rockka and Jadon Fonka. Which will you choose?

Other Events

There seems to be more art exhibitions nowadays; or maybe we just weren't aware of them before?. Anyway, it's good to see and there's a new one starting at Gallery FourLife this Friday, 7 October. Titled "Bucephalus", this is a solo exhibition of paintings by Prageeth Manohansa and will be on display until 21 October.

Are you hopeless at caring for plants, like we are? If you have some indoor plants and would like to know more about how to care for them, then go visit Hatch on Friday at 5.30. Ceylon Green & Aqua are hosting a one hour workshop on "The Easy Way to Care for your Plants at Home". It's just an hour of your time and could save your plants! And no, we don't think the answer is "hire a gardener"...

Do you feel guilty going out for a bite and leaving your doggo at home? Now you don't need to. The Garden Fusion Cafe in Nawala have launched a Pet Menu - so you can take your furry best buddy with you and they can enjoy a snack too.

Ever wanted to make your own jewellery? Well, you can give it a go this Sunday at Cafe Kumbuk who are hosting a Jewellery Workshop with Alke designer, Sara Nazoor. It's from 09.30am to 11.30am, and there are only 10 spots and most are already booked, so be quick!

And did you miss the Dino-Land dinosaur experience for kids last weekend? Well, it's back at Colombo City Centre this weekend. There are again three sessions during the day, each with very limited number of places, so be sure to register in good time.
